Recap: New Mexico St vs. New Mexico

Las Cruces, NM (Sports Network) - Kasey Carrier rushed for 129 yards and a touchdown to help lead the New Mexico Lobos to a 27-14 win over the New Mexico State Aggies at Aggie Memorial Stadium.

Carrier helped contribute to the 302 yards rushing on the night for the Lobos (2-2), who snapped the nation's longest road losing streak at 24 games. Jhurell Pressley added 71 rushing yards and two touchdowns. B.R. Holbrook completed 11- of-18 passes for 92 yards.

For NMSU (1-3), Andrew Manley threw for 256 yards and a touchdown on 22-of-34 passing. Austin Franklin hauled in six receptions for 107 yards and a score, while Robert Clay was the team's leading rusher with 47 yards and a touchdown. The Aggies have now dropped three straight since winning their opener over Sacramento State.

New Mexico got the scoring started midway through the first quarter on a Justus Adams 24-yard field goal.

The Lobos' lead extended to 10-0 early in the second quarter following a seven- yard touchdown run from Pressley.

NMSU found the scoreboard a few minutes later when Clay ran in an 11-yard touchdown, but New Mexico was able to pad its lead just before halftime on a 29-yard field goal from Adams to make it 13-7.

Carrier rushed in a touchdown from 29 yards out midway through the third quarter to extend the Lobos' advantage. Another Pressley rushing score in the fourth quarter, this time from one-yard out, gave them their largest lead of the game, 27-7.

NMSU added a touchdown with less than four minutes to play in regulation on a Manley 23-yard scoring strike to Franklin, but it proved to be too little too late for the Aggies.

The Lobos converted four of their five red zone chances into scores, while the Aggies drove inside New Mexico's 20-yard line just once. New Mexico also had a commanding advantage in terms of time of possession, holding the ball for more than 38 minutes.
