Recap: Arizona vs. SC State

Tucson, AZ (Sports Network) - Matt Scott tossed three touchdown passes on Saturday and No. 24 Arizona pasted South Carolina State, 56-0.

Scott completed 30-of-36 passes for 288 yards without an interception and added a rushing touchdown, as the Wildcats (3-0) wrapped up a perfect, season- opening homestand. They were coming off an upset of nationally-ranked Oklahoma State.

Daniel Jenkins, Ka'Deem Carey and Jared Baker each rushed for a score in Saturday's rout, while Dan Buckner caught six passes for 85 yards and a touchdown.

Richard Cue completed 12-of-25 passes for 89 yards and an interception for the Bulldogs (1-2). The Football Championship Subdivision competitors managed just 154 total yards.

"The game got away from us to the point where it got ugly," said South Carolina State coach Buddy Pough. "I wish we would have played better offensively, because if we had, we would have given ourselves a chance to keep the game close defensively."

Richard Morrison recorded four catches for the Wildcats and the junior receiver opened the scoring with a 15-yard touchdown grab.

In the second quarter, Taimi Tutogi reeled in a 14-yard scoring strike from Scott before Carey's seven-yard touchdown run made it 21-0.

Scott added to the lead when he notched a 10-yard touchdown run shortly before halftime.

The Wildcats continued to dominate after the break as Scott opened the second- half scoring with a 27-yard touchdown pass to Buckner.

Late in the third quarter, Jenkins reeled off a five-yard scoring burst to make it 42-0.

B.J. Denker backed up Scott and completed 6-of-10 passes for 78 yards. The junior signal caller found Sean Willet for a 17-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter before Baker capped the blowout with a four-yard scoring run.

"As long as it counts as one victory, we're going to play," said Arizona coach Rich Rodriguez. "They're an FCS opponent but you can't take them lightly. You can't overlook them, they play hard. The guys were business-like all week."
