Recap: Iowa State vs. Baylor

Ames, IA (Sports Network) - Steele Jantz threw for a career-high 381 yards and tied a school record with five touchdown passes as the Iowa State Cyclones dismissed the Baylor Bears, 35-21, in a Big 12 Conference bout at Jack Trice Stadium.

Jantz also tied a school-record for completions by going 36-of-52 passing for Iowa State (5-3, 2-3 Big 12), which snapped a two-game losing skid. Jarvis West caught seven passes for 99 yards and was on the receiving end of three Jantz's touchdowns strikes.

For Baylor (3-4, 0-4), Nick Florence completed 31-of-51 passes for 426 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception, marking the sixth time this season he's passed for at least 300 yards and the second times he's topped 400 yards. Terrance Williams was Florence's primary target, catching 13 passes for 190 yards. The Bears have now lost four in a row after starting the season 3-0.

Baylor opened up the scoring midway through the first quarter on a two-yard touchdown run by Jarred Salubi. Iowa State would tie the score at 7-7 later in the quarter on a 23-yard touchdown pass from Jantz to West.

The Bears took a touchdown lead early in the second quarter after Florence connected on a 49-yard touchdown strike to Tevin Reese.

The Cyclones tied the score at 14-14 midway through the second quarter following a 36-yard touchdown pass from Jantz to Albert Gary.

Iowa State took its first lead of the game, 21-14, with just 27 seconds to go before halftime. Jantz connected on a seven-yard scoring strike to West to cap off a 10-play drive that lasted less than two minutes.

The Cyclones extended their lead to two touchdowns midway through the third quarter following an eight-yard touchdown pass from Jantz to Jeff Woody. They would make it 35-14 midway through the fourth quarter following yet another Jantz touchdown pass, this time a 22-yard strike to West.

Baylor scored a touchdown midway through the fourth quarter on a three-yard pass from Florence to Lanear Sampson, but it proved to be too little, too late for the Bears.

Iowa State held nearly a two-to-one advantage in time of possession, controlling the ball for 38:48.
