Recap: Kansas State vs. Oklahoma State

Manhattan, KS (Sports Network) - John Hubert had two touchdowns on the ground to help No. 3 Kansas State take a tough 44-30 win over Oklahoma State in Big 12 play.

Collin Klein left the game in the third quarter with an undisclosed injury after scoring on a quarterback sneak. He finished the game 16-for-22 with 245 yards and added 17 carries for 64 yards before leaving. Daniel Sims took over under center and went 5-for-6 with 45 yards and added 20 yards on seven carries.

Angelo Pease had 72 yards on nine carries while Chris Harper added five catches for 89 yards for the Wildcats (9-0, 6-0 Big 12), who have won all but two of their games this season by double-digits.

Wes Lunt had a tough day under center as he went just 11-for-20 for 184 yards, one score and three interceptions for the Cowboys (5-3, 3-2), who had a three- game winning streak stopped.

"That is as poorly as we have played on special teams and obviously turned the ball over in a long time," said Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy. "I'm not saying they do not do a good job but a lot of them are self inflicted "

Oklahoma State took the initial lead in the game thanks to a big play as Lunt and Austin Hays connected on a 54-yard bomb for a 7-0 advantage with 9:02 to play in the first quarter.

The Wildcats, though, came right back with a score of their own. The big play of the drive was a 50-yard catch by Tyler Lockett, and Hubert capped the march with a 1-yard score to tie the game.

Just two plays into the second, Kansas State took a lead it never lost as Anthony Cantele's 23-yard field goal capped an 11-play, 74-yard march, and Joseph Randle fumbled deep in Oklahoma State territory just three plays later.

That led to a 5-yard run into the end zone by Hubert for a 17-7 lead with 10:51 to play.

The Cowboys responded with a 25-yard field goal from Quinn Sharp to make it a 17-10 game, and the special teams for both clubs responded with big plays.

Lockett fielded the kickoff at the goal line and took it all the way for a score, while Desmond Roland answered with a kickoff return of his own, this one for 80 yards, and it was a 24-17 game.

The next score came on defense as Allen Chapman picked off a Lunt pass and took it 29 yards for a score and Kansas State took a 31-17 lead into the halftime break.

"He made some tremendous plays," said Kansas State head coach Bill Snyder. "I was proud of the way he played for the most part. His enthusiasm to try and duplicate some of those snaps, he got himself into a little bit of a pickle and it was costly. Overall, the turnovers were major in the ballgame."

Kansas State's first possession of the third quarter bore fruit as Klein capped an eight-play, 93-yard march with a 1-yard run into the end zone, but he was hurt on the play.

Sharp's 43-yard field goal made it a 38-20 game with 7:07 left in the third and the score stayed that way heading into the fourth.

The Wildcats got a 37-yard field goal from Cantele early in the fourth for a 21-point lead, while Oklahoma State answered with a 13-yard touchdown catch by Charlie Moore from Clint Chelf with 13:06 to play.

Another field goal from Cantele, this one from 40 yards out, made it a 17- point game, while Sharp countered with a 28-yard boot between the uprights with 8:52 left.

Cantele missed a 24-yard field goal attempt on Kansas State's next touch, but Chapman sealed the win with his third interception of the game as he picked off Chelf in the end zone with just over two minutes to play and the Wildcats killed off the rest of the clock.
