Recap: Oklahoma State vs. Texas Tech

Stillwater, OK (Sports Network) - Clint Chelf threw for 229 yards and three touchdowns, as the Oklahoma State Cowboys punished the No.23 Texas Tech Red Raiders, 59-21, on Saturday.

Chelf completed 11-of-21 throws, tossing all three of his touchdowns to Isaiah Anderson, who had four catches for 174 yards for Oklahoma State (7-3, 5-2 Big 12), which beat the Red Raiders for the fourth straight time.

Joseph Randle led the Cowboys' rushing attack with 91 yards and a score on 17 carries, while J.W. Walsh ran for a touchdown and threw for another in the victory.

"Today's game was a very complete game," said Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy. "I mentioned last week that we were good in all three phases of the game, but I think we were better today. We rallied to the ball and forced turnovers. We played really well."

Seth Doege completed 24-of-36 throws for 230 yards and a touchdown, but had two passes intercepted. The Red Raiders (7-4, 4-4) fell behind 35-7 after giving up 28 straight points in the first half and never recovered.

"We had our best practices last week. I have no problem with the effort and how the guys go into each game and compete," said Texas Tech coach Tommy Tuberville. "We're our own worst enemy in a lot of ways. It's been a long eight games, but we'll bounce back."

Darrin Moore caught a game-high nine passes for 140 yards and a score. Tyson Williams also hauled in a touchdown on seven catches for 47 yards, while Eric Stephens ran for a score in the loss.

The Cowboys scored on their first possession of the game, as Walsh connected with Kye Staley for a 2-yard score to cap a 12-play, 75-yard opening drive.

On the first play of the second quarter, Texas Tech evened the score at 7-7 when Stephens dove into the end zone on a 1-yard plunge. Two plays prior, Doege completed a 57-yard strike to Darrin Moore to put the Red Raiders on the Cowboys' 2-yard line.

But from there, Oklahoma State rallied off 28 unanswered points and never looked back.

On the fourth play of the Cowboys' ensuing drive, Chelf found Anderson for a 60-yard score, and after Gary Shamiel picked off Doege on Texas Tech's next touch, Chelf again found Anderson, this time for a 33-yard score.

The Red Raiders made matters even worse for themselves following Anderson's second TD catch. After failing to pick up a first down, Ryan Erxleben's punt was blocked by Teddy Johnson, allowing the Cowboys to begin their drive on the Texas Tech 24.

Oklahoma State needed just four plays to reach the end zone yet again. On 3rd- and-9, Chelf scrambled for 21 yards before Walsh punched it in on a 2-yard rush, giving the Cowboys a 21-point advantage.

Texas Tech once again went three-and-out and was forced to punt away. The Cowboys wasted no time in scoring again, as Chelf hooked up with Anderson for a 66-yard TD on the first play of the series, pushing Oklahoma State's advantage to 35-7 with 6:18 left in the half.

The Red Raiders finally got back on the board just before halftime. They drove 95 yards on 13 plays to reach the end zone, as Doege completed 10 straight throws on the march, his last to Williams for a 2-yard score to cut the deficit to 35-14 with 15 seconds remaining in the second quarter.

But Texas Tech couldn't carry the momentum into the third quarter, as Doege was intercepted by James Castleman on the first drive of the second half.

Off the turnover, Oklahoma State got into the end zone for the sixth time, as Jeremy Smith scored on a 17-yard rush to make it 42-14.

Quinn Sharp drilled a 51-yard field goal on the Cowboys' next touch, extending their advantage to 31 with 6:22 remaining in the third.

After recovering a fumble deep inside Texas Tech territory, Oklahoma State continued to pour it on. Randle twice rushed for gains of 11 yards before he scored on a 1-yard plunge with 17 seconds remaining in the third.

Oklahoma State scored its final touchdown after blocking their second punt of the game. Zack Craig got his hand on it and returned it 30 yards for the score, making it 59-14 with 12:35 to go.

Back-up quarterback Michael Brewer led the Red Raiders on a 12-play touchdown drive in garbage time, finding Moore for a 7-yard score with 2:51 to play.
