Recap: Troy vs. Navy

Troy, AL (Sports Network) - Thanks in large part to three touchdowns from Deon Anthony, the Troy Trojans toppled the Navy Midshipmen, 41-31, in a non- conference bout at Veterans Memorial Stadium.

Anthony, the backup quarterback, was utilize in many different way for Troy (5-5). He completed 9-of-12 passes for 93 yards and a touchdown and also ran for 56 yards and a pair of scores. Starting quarterback Corey Robinson was on point as well, completing 25-of-28 passes for 322 yards and a touchdown.

For Navy (6-4), Keenan Reynolds rushed for 128 yards and three touchdowns while adding 159 yards through the air on 8-of-15 passing. Gee Gee Greene also topped the century mark on the ground with 150 rushing yards and a touchdown. The loss for the Midshipmen snaps a five-game winning streak.

Troy struck first early on in the opening quarter on a 34-yard touchdown pass from Anthony to Chandler Worthy. It added another touchdown later in the quarter when Shawn Southward rushed in a score from six yards out, as Troy held a 14-0 lead after one quarter.

The big plays kept coming for the Trojans. Robinson hooked up with B.J. Chitty for a 62-yard touchdown pass as their lead extended to three scores early in the second quarter.

Navy finally stopped the early bleeding at the 10:38 mark of the second quarter when Reynolds rushed in a five-yard touchdown. Reynolds added another five-yard touchdown run later in the quarter to bring the Midshipmen to within one score.

Troy answered less than two minutes later with another big play as Anthony scored again, this time on a 44-yard rush, as its lead extended to 28-14.

The Midshipman came back for a much-needed touchdown just before the half on another Reynolds rushing score (one yard), as they trailed by just seven, 28-21, heading into the break.

Troy added to its advantage midway through the third quarter with a 25-yard field goal from Will Scott, but Navy continued to keep it close as Green took a carry 59 yards for a touchdown.

Anthony scored his third touchdown of the game early in the fourth quarter on a four-yard rush to once again give Troy a 10-point advantage.

Nick Sloan kicked a 27-yard field goal to inch Navy closer midway through the fourth quarter, but Scott answered for the Trojans with a 23-yard field goal with less than four minutes to play in regulation, as they held on for the win.

Troy gained 597 yards of offense on the afternoon and converted 32 first downs. It also converted 8-of-12 of its third down attempts.
