Recap: Army vs. Boston College

West Point, NY (Sports Network) - Trent Steelman scored on a 29-yard run with 45 seconds remaining, as the Army Black Knights rallied for a 34-31 win over the Boston College Eagles at Michie Stadium.

It was the third touchdown of the day for Steelman, who carried 22 times for 141 yards. Teammate Raymond Maples racked up 184 yards on 34 carries, helping lift Army (1-4) to its first win of the season while also snapping a five-game slide to BC.

The Eagles (1-4) remain winless against teams from the Football Bowl Subdivision on the year, despite a game-high 191 yards and two touchdowns on the ground from Andre Williams. Alex Amidon had one rushing TD and one receiving TD in the loss.

Steelman got Army on the board first with a one-yard touchdown run at the 9:38 mark of the opening frame, capping a nine-play, 72-yard drive.

BC answered right back with a nine-play, 75-yard drive, resulting in a one- yard rushing score by Williams.

Steelman scored his second rushing TD late in the first quarter on a 27-yard run to put Army back on top. However, the Eagles answered with three straight scores in the second quarter.

The first of those scoring plays came on a 99-yard burst by Williams at the 10:45 mark of the second quarter. After Nate Freese kicked a 25-yard field goal midway through the frame, Chase Rettig made it a 24-14 game on a 20-yard TD pass to Amidon with 2:46 remaining until halftime.

The Black Knights cut the deficit to 24-17 thanks to a 46-yard field goal by Dan Grochowski as time expired in the half.

Army tied the score on Larry Dixon's six-yard touchdown run at the 8:52 mark of the third quarter, capping a drive that covered 75 yards and took more than six minutes off the clock.

The Black Knights put together another six-minute drive in the fourth quarter, but they had to settle for a 20-yard field goal from Grochowski with 9:04 remaining.

BC responded with an eight-play, 77-yard drive, and Amidon punched it into the end zone on a 24-yard run to give the Eagles a 31-27 lead with 6:11 to play.

Late in the game, Army's defense forced a punt from the BC 4-yard line, and it traveled only 34 yards to set up solid field position for the Black Knights offense with only 1:03 to play. Three plays later, Steelman broke free for the deciding touchdown.

Army's option game was in top form, churning out 27 first downs, 516 yards (6.5 ypc) and four TDs on the ground.
