Recap: Oregon State vs. Oregon

Corvallis, OR (Sports Network) - After its chance at a perfect season dissipated last Saturday, Oregon refused to hang its head.

Especially against Oregon State in the Civil War.

The fifth-ranked Ducks ran for 430 yards and six touchdowns in their 48-24 thumping of the Beavers.

Kenjon Barner registered 198 yards and two scores on 28 carries, while D'Anthony Thomas added 122 yards on the ground and three touchdowns on 17 rushes for Oregon (11-1, 7-1 Pac-12), which lost a chance to represent the North in the conference title game. Stanford will have that honor after beating UCLA, 35-17, Saturday.

Marcus Mariota recorded 85 yards and a score on eight carries and added 140 yards and a touchdown through the air on 17-of-24 efficiency in the win.

"The offensive line did a great job tonight," Mariota said. "To run over 400 yards, it's a token of what they've done. Some guys went down but others have stepped up and set off some holes. I'm proud of those guys."

Storm Woods ran for 70 yards and a pair of scores on 16 attempts for the Beavers (8-3, 6-3), who have dropped three of their last five contests since beginning the year 6-0.

Oregon State, which had a Pac-12 low 14 turnovers coming into the game, gave it away six times.

Sean Mannion tossed four interceptions in defeat. He finished 31-of-49 for 311 yards with a touchdown.

The Beavers took their opening possession of the second half 66 yards in nine plays to the deficit to 20-17.

Markus Wheaton was left unaccounted for along the left sideline and Mannion hit him for a 37-yard completion before Woods ran it in from two yards out a play later.

Oregon, though, tallied the next 28 points to put the game away.

Thomas capped Oregon's ensuing 11-play, 71-yard march with a 5-yard TD run and the Ducks got the ball right back after Keanon Lowe recovered a Deon Kell fumble.

Thomas scampered 29 yards untouched down the left sideline for the score just four plays later.

"You can't win with turnovers, especially with a really good team on the other side of the ball," Oregon state coach Mike Riley said. "We had turnovers in the kicking game and we had turnovers on the offense. I don't think that we played great defense, but we put our defense on the field way too much."

Mannion was intercepted by Ifo Ekpre-Olomu on the first play of the fourth, which led to a Barner 1-yard TD plunge.

Kiko Alonso then picked off Mannion on the second snap of Oregon State's ensuing series and Mariota flipped a 2-yard TD pass to B.J. Kelley four plays later for a 48-17 advantage.

Mannion's 6-yard TD pass to Micah Hatfield with 24 ticks to play capped the scoring.

Earlier, Mariota's 42-yard touchdown gallop on the Ducks' first possession gave them a 6-0 lead -- the two-point conversion attempt was no good.

Woods' 7-yard TD plunge late in the first preceded rushing scores of two and one yards, respectively, by Thomas and Barner for a 17-7 Oregon lead midway through the second.

Trevor Romaine booted through a 37-yard field goal as time expired in the first half, which cut the margin to 17-10 heading into the locker room.
