Recap: Arizona vs. Oregon State

Tucson, AZ (Sports Network) - Sean Mannion threw for three scores, including a 9-yard connection to Connor Hamlett with 1:09 left in the fourth quarter, to lift 18th-ranked Oregon State to a 38-35 win over Arizona.

Mannion connected on 29-of-45 throws for 433 yards. Storm Woods gained 161 yards on 29 carries with a touchdown. Markus Wheaton caught 10 passes for 166 yards and a pair of scores for the Beavers (3-0, 2-0 Pac-12), who have won 12 of the last 14 meetings between the teams.

Matt Scott finished 31-of-53 for 403 yards with three TDs and a pair of interceptions for the Wildcats (3-2, 0-2), who were coming off a 49-0 loss at Oregon. Ka'Deem Carey rushed for 115 yards and a pair of scores, while Dan Buckner had 119 yards receiving with a TD.

Wheaton caught a 20-yard TD pass with 8:35 remaining to boost the Beavers to a 31-28 lead, but the Wildcats then drove 75 yards in 10 plays, capped by Scott's 7-yard scoring strike to Austin Hill with 5:34 to go. The Wildcats took advantage of a holding call on third down, the play prior to the TD pass.

Mannion then engineered the go-ahead march, converting a 3rd-and-3 with a 28- yard strike to Wheaton. That moved the ball to the Arizona 27. A short time later, Hamlett caught the go-ahead score.

Rashaad Reynolds picked off Scott at the OSU 45 with 43 seconds left, sealing the outcome and giving Mike Riley his 75th win at the school, breaking the all-time record previously held by Lon Stiner.

"It's never one play to beat you. It was more than one play that beat us today," Arizona coach Rich Rodriguez said.

Wheaton caught a 2-yard TD pass in the fist quarter, and the Beavers extended their lead to 17-0 in the second thanks to a 30-yard field goal from Trevor Romaine and a 1-yard scoring run from Tyler Anderson.

Carey scored from a yard out later in the quarter and Hill scored on a short pass from Scott early in the third. Carey rushed for a 24-yard score for a 21-17 Arizona lead with 8:48 left in the third.

Woods rushed for a 1-yard score, but Buckner reeled in a 16-yard scoring pass in the closing seconds of the third, giving the Wildcats a 28-24 edge.
