Recap: Massachusetts vs. Indiana

Foxborough, MA (Sports Network) - Tre Roberson racked up 203 total yards and three touchdowns in just over a quarter of work to lift the Indiana Hoosiers to a convincing 45-6 win over Massachusetts in the Minutemen's first home game as a member of the Football Bowl Subdivision at Gillette Stadium.

Roberson was electric for Indiana (2-0) before suffering a season-ending leg injury just over two minutes into the second quarter. Cameron Coffman relieved Roberson and went on to complete 16-of-22 passes for 159 yards and a touchdown. Tevin Coleman rushed for 73 yards on 13 carries while Isaiah Roundtree contributed 62 yards on the ground on 10 rushes. Cody Latimer reeled in five catches for 68 yards for the Hoosiers, who snapped an 11-game losing streak versus FBS opponents.

Mike Wegzyn paced the Minutemen (0-2) by completing 18-of-26 passes for 151 yards. Michael Cox was limited to 36 yards on 15 carries while Marken Michel caught five passes for a team-high 68 yards.

On the first snap of Indiana's second possession, Roberson took off for a 50- yard touchdown run to give the visitors an early 7-0 lead.

UMass quickly answered. After Wegzyn completed a 56-yard pass to Marken Michel, Wegzyn rushed 16 yards for a score for the Minutemen's first points. Blake Lucas missed the extra point attempt, which allowed Indiana to keep a one-point advantage.

Roberson rushed for his second touchdown of the opening five minutes by rushing 39 yards across the goal line. The Hoosiers led, 21-6, at the end of the first period after Roberson delivered another touchdown, this time by completing a 5- yard pass to Shane Wynn.

Indiana ran away with the game in the second quarter. After Roberson left with an injury, Mitch Ewald added three points with a 19-yard field goal that capped off a 12-play, 74-yard drive with 12:36 left to go before halftime. Stephen Houston and Roundtree each rushed for two-yard touchdowns to give Indiana a 38-6 lead going into the intermission.

After a scoreless third quarter, Charles Love III caught a 12-yard touchdown pass from Coffman with 13:09 left. Ewald's successful extra point attempt put the Hoosiers up, 45-6. Neither side managed to score the rest of the way.

UMass was held to 2.2 yards per carry, while the Hoosiers averaged 6.2 yards per run.
