Recap: Indiana vs. Wisconsin

Bloomington, IN (Sports Network) - Montee Ball ran for 198 yards and three touchdowns and James White added another 161 rushing yards and two TDs, as the Wisconsin Badgers routed the Indiana Hoosiers, 62-14, in a Big Ten matchup at Memorial Stadium.

With the victory, the Badgers (7-3, 4-2 Big Ten) lock up a berth in the Big Ten Championship game for the second consecutive season. All told, Wisconsin racked up a school-record 564 yards on the ground.

Cameron Coffman threw for 233 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions for the Hoosiers (4-6, 2-4), who were coming off back-to-back Big Ten wins for the first time since 2007. IU now needs to win its final two games to become bowl eligible.

Ball scored his first touchdown of the day on a 10-yard run five minutes into the game. Wisconsin took a 14-0 lead at the 3:52 mark of the opening frame, as Curt Phillips found Sam Arneson for a two-yard touchdown pass.

After a 24-yard field goal by Wisconsin's Kyle French early in the second quarter, IU made it a 17-7 game on Coffman's six-yard TD pass to Ted Bolser with 2:25 to play in the half.

It appeared the score would remain that way entering halftime, but White shook free for a 69-yard touchdown run with 13 seconds on the clock, and the Badgers took a 24-7 lead into intermission.

Wisconsin opened up its lead in the third quarter thanks to two more touchdowns from Ball. The first of those third-quarter TDs came on a one-yard run with 8:49 to play. After a quick three-and-out by IU, Ball found the end zone again on a 49-yard scamper at the 7:20 mark of the third quarter.

After another field goal by French (37 yards), IU made it a 41-14 game on a seven-yard scoring strike from Coffman to Kofi Hughes with just under 14 minutes to play in regulation.

However, the Badgers would tack on three more scores to seal the outcome. White found the end zone again on a 50-yard run with 10:34 remaining. Melvin Gordon scored on a 17-yard run at the 7:38 mark, and Jeffrey Lewis rounded out the scoring barrage with a five-yard TD scamper in the final minutes.

With Penn State and Ohio State ineligible for postseason play due to NCAA sanctions, Wisconsin heads to the Big Ten title game in Indianapolis on Dec. 1. Ball moved past Ricky Williams for second place on the NCAA all-time touchdown list, with 77 career TDs. Meanwhile, the Hoosiers' school-record streak of 10 straight games with 24 or more points came to an end.
