Recap: Penn State vs. Indiana

University Park, PA (Sports Network) - Allen Robinson had 10 catches for 197 yards and three touchdowns, leading the Penn State Nittany Lions to a 45-22 triumph over the Indiana Hoosiers in a Big Ten Conference tussle at Beaver Stadium.

With the win, Penn State (7-4, 5-2 Big Ten) improves to 16-0 all-time against the Hoosiers. Matt McGloin completed 22-of-32 passes for 395 yards with four touchdowns and one interception on the day. Zach Zwinak finished with 135 rushing yards and scored twice.

The Hoosiers (4-7, 2-5) were officially eliminated from bowl contention, despite 454 yards passing and two touchdowns from Cameron Coffman. However, Coffman was also intercepted twice, and Indiana's running game was bottled up to 24 net yards on 26 carries as a team.

McGloin opened the scoring with a 26-yard touchdown pass to Robinson with 4:26 to play in the first quarter.

After a 26-yard field goal by IU kicker Mitch Ewald in the opening minute of the second quarter, the Hoosiers defense intercepted McGloin on the next play from scrimmage. Coffman capitalized on that takeaway with a two-yard TD pass to Ted Bolser for a 10-7 lead.

PSU regained the lead at the 8:56 mark of the second quarter on McGloin's 53- yard scoring strike to Robinson.

After a 44-yard field goal by Ewald midway through the frame, the Nittany Lions made it a 21-13 game on another touchdown from McGloin to Robinson, this time from 10 yards. IU defender Antonio Marshall was whistled for pass interference on the play, but the penalty was declined as Robinson was able to haul in the pass with one hand.

PSU extended its lead to 28-13 on a 16-yard touchdown pass from McGloin to Zach Zwinak with 31 seconds remaining in the half.

On Indiana's first play of the second half, Stephen Houston took a swing pass from Coffman and darted 79 yards to the end zone untouched. Ewald missed the extra point as Penn State still led, 28-19.

The Hoosiers attempted an on-side kick and recovered, although they were not able to capitalize as Ewald missed a 55-yard field goal attempt. PSU took over possession at its own 39-yard line, but Zwinak lost a fumble on the second play of the drive, setting up a 46-yard field goal by Ewald to make it a 28-22 game at the 8:34 mark of the third quarter.

The Nittany Lions answered with a nine-play, 75-yard drive, capped by Zwinak's one-yard touchdown plunge. Later in the third quarter, Michael Zordich scored on a four-yard run to stretch Penn State's lead to 42-22. A 28-yard field goal by Sam Ficken in the fourth quarter accounted for the final margin.

Despite the lopsided victory, it wasn't all smiles for the Nittany Lions as standout linebacker Michael Mauti was carted off the field in the first quarter with a left knee injury. Ineligible for postseason play due to NCAA sanctions, the Nittany Lions will close out their season next weekend against Wisconsin.
