Recap: Texas Tech vs. New Mexico

Lubbock, TX (Sports Network) - Seth Doege threw for 340 yards and six touchdowns to lead the Texas Tech Red Raiders in a 49-14 rout of the New Mexico Lobos at Jones AT&T Stadium.

Doege completed 27-of-35 pass attempts for Texas Tech (3-0), while Eric Ward led the squad with five receptions for 90 yards and three scores. Darrin Moore also caught five passes, one for a touchdown, and Jace Amaro caught a pair of scores and had 57 yards receiving. The Red Raider rushing attack was also impressive with Eric Stephens (118 yards) and Kenny Williams (105) each reaching the century mark on the ground.

B.R. Holbrook had only six completions on 11 attempts for 43 yards and Cole Gautsche led New Mexico (1-2) with 36 yards rushing in the setback.

Texas Tech took little time getting on the scoreboard with a 20-yard TD pass from Doege to Ward putting the Red Raiders up 7-0 less than four minutes into the opening quarter.

The Red Raiders went up 14-0 on a 21-yard rushing touchdown by Stephens on their next drive.

Early in the second quarter was when the Lobos finally got on the scoreboard with a two-yard TD run by Demarcus Rogers.

Doege and the Red Raiders answered with passing touchdowns on their next two drives. Both went to Ward, the first a 39-yard strike and the second from seven yards out.

Chase Clayton then returned the ensuing kickoff 98 yards to the end zone to make the score 28-14.

Texas Tech's quick strike offense was evident as Doege tossed two more touchdown passes in the last two minutes of the second half. The first was a nine-yard strike to Amaro and the second an 11-yard effort to Moore to give the hosts a 42-14 advantage at the break.

Doege's sixth touchdown pass came in the beginning of the third quarter when he connected with Amaro from 14 yards out. It was the last score of the game as the Red Raiders coasted to the victory.

Texas Tech amassed 702 total yards in the game to just 127 by New Mexico. The Lobos have now lost 24 straight road games which is the longest active streak in the Football Bowl Subdivision.
