Recap: Cincinnati vs. Miami-Ohio

Cincinnati, OH (Sports Network) - Munchie Legaux scored three touchdowns and the Cincinnati Bearcats' defense came up huge in a 52-14 dismantling of in- state rival, Miami-Ohio, at Nippert Stadium.

Legaux completed 13-of-23 passes for 157 yards and two touchdowns for the Bearcats (4-0), while adding 22 yards and a score on the ground. Cincinnati gained 272 rushing yards, paced by George Winn's 128 yards on 16 carries. Winn added two touchdowns as well.

RedHawks' (3-3) quarterback Zac Dysert, who is coming off the first 500-yard passing and 100-yard rushing game in FBS history in a win over Akron last week, threw for 303 yards and two touchdowns on 25-of-49 passing. He was also intercepted three times.

Dysert got off to a hot start, completing 4-of-5 passes on the RedHawks' opening drive, including a 19-yard touchdown strike to Dawan Scott. A botched snap on the extra point try left Miami with just a 6-0 lead.

After forcing a Cincinnati punt, Miami took over looking to extend its lead, but they were bit by the turnover bug. First, a forced throw from Dysert was intercepted by Camerron Cheatham and returned 68 yards for a Bearcat touchdown. Another errant throw from Dysert on their next possession was picked off by Deven Drane and returned 33 yards to Miami's 15-yard line. Two plays later, Legaux rolled out to his left and found a wide open Danny Milligan to take a 14-6 lead.

Winn gave Cincy a 21-6 lead early in the second quarter, capping a 10-play drive with his six-yard touchdown run. But his biggest play of the half came on the Bearcats' next drive. Pinned down at their own two-yard line, Winn broke through the hole for a 57-yard gain. The tailback then carried three more times for another 23 yards on the drive, setting up a Tony Miliano 24-yard field goal.

Dysert regained his composure late in the second quarter, throwing a 10-yard touchdown pass to Nick Harwell at the 2:05 mark. He then battled his way into the end zone on a broken play to convert the two point conversion. Cincy had a chance to add points at the end of the half, but two penalties for 25 yards halted its drive, and it went into the break leading 24-14.

The Bearcats came out firing in the second half, scoring touchdowns on all three of their third quarter possessions while keeping the RedHawks off the board. First, Legaux hit Travis Kelce for a 19-yard score, his first touchdown reception of the season. Then Winn scored his second touchdown midway through the quarter. Legaux scored on a draw from one yard out with 1:11 remaining in the period.

Tion Green added his first career rushing touchdown early in the fourth quarter to complete the route.

While Miami still leads the all-time series, 59-51-7, Cincinnati has now outscored them 161-30 in the last four meetings. The Bearcats have won seven consecutive games dating back to last season.
