Recap: Georgia Tech vs. Middle Tennessee

Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Logan Kilgore passed for 246 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders to a 49-28 victory over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at Bobby Dodd Stadium.

Kilgore was 17-of-23 on pass attempts, with one interception, and found Blue Raider (3-1) receivers, Marcus Henry and Anthony Amos each for a touchdown.

Henry had a team-high 75 yards receiving and Kyle Griswould also contributed 59 yards receiving on a team-high six catches.

Benny Cunningham had career-highs in both rushing touchdowns and rushing yards as he put on a healthy performance with 217 yards on the ground and five touchdowns.

Tevin Washington was 14-of-22 for only 146 yards, no touchdowns and an interception in the Yellow Jackets' (2-3) loss. He did manage four rushing touchdowns, a career high.

Orwin Smith caught five passes for 61 yards and carried the ball seven times for 85 yards.

After an interception by Jabari Hunt-Days at the Georgia Tech 47 yard line, that gave the Yellow Jackets great field position, Washington capped off a short drive with a one-yard touchdown run to put them on top first, 7-0.

Kilgore fired back with a four-yard touchdown pass to Amos, who made a spectacular one handed catch in the back of the endzone, to even the score.

To start the second quarter, Cunningham broke through for a huge 60-yard rushing touchdown to give the Blue Raiders the lead.

Georgia Tech tied the game back up as Washington scored again on his feet with a three-yard touchdown run.

Middle Tennessee managed to take the lead again as Cunningham ran in a one-yard touchdown making the score 21-14.

Smith returned the ensuing kickoff 55 yards to set up the Yellow Jackets for a nine-play, 45-yard drive that resulted in another one-yard touchdown run by Washington evening the score once again before halftime.

In the beginning of the second half the Blue Raiders came out firing as Cunningham plowed his way 23 yards, breaking tackles, for his third touchdown of the day as the Blue Raiders went up 28-21.

After the Yellow Jackets turned the ball over on downs, Kilgore hit Henry for a 75-yard touchdown pass on the first play of the Blue Raiders' drive.

Georgia Tech started to fight back as Washington once again ran in a one-yard touchdown and brought the game to within a single score.

Kenneth Gilstrap intercepted Washington and returned it 38 yards to set up an eventual four-yard touchdown run by Cunningham. This increased the Blue Raider lead to 14.

Cunningham took in a three-yard run for his fifth touchdown of the day with a little over a minute remanding as Middle Tennessee won 49 to 28.
