Recap: Duke vs. Virginia

Durham, NC (Sports Network) - Anthony Boone completed 18-of-31 passes for 212 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Duke Blue Devils to a 42-17 victory over the Virginia Cavaliers in ACC action at Wallace Wade Stadium.

Boone's favorite target, Conner Vernon, became the ACC's all-time leader in career receptions today. He caught seven passes for 93 yards and two touchdowns to help Duke (5-1, 2-0 ACC) get the win. Vernon now has 239 career catches.

Virginia (2-4, 0-2) quarterback Phillip Sims completed 21-of-42 passes for 268 yards and threw two interceptions. Running back Perry Jones ran for 100 yards on 19 carries for one touchdown.

On the opening drive, Virginia drove 83 yards in eight plays and Parks punched it in from seven yards out to give it an early 7-0 lead.

Duke took no time to respond as Boone's first pass of the game connected with Jamison Crowder for a 54-yard touchdown pass which tied the game up at 7-7.

On the next possession, Sims threw an interception to Duke's Tony Foster. Boone took advantage of the turnover and connected with Vernon for a 37-yard touchdown to put them up 14-7.

On that drive, Vernon became the ACC's all-time leader in career receptions.

The Cavaliers responded with a one-yard run by Jones to even the score up at 14-14.

Throughout the second quarter, both offenses struggled to move the ball. Virginia took the lead when kicker Drew Jarrett made a 39-yard field goal to put them up at 17-14 right before the half ended .

Duke scored first in the second half when Boone connected with Juwan Thompson for a 12-yard touchdown to put them up 20-17.

The Blue Devils regained possession and Jela Duncan scored on a 11-yard touchdown run to put them up 28-17.

Duke added on to their lead when Boone connected with Vernon for a 45-yard touchdown pass, which made the score 35-17.

Thompson scored on a 34-yard touchdown run with 2:38 remaining to seal the victory for the Blue Devils,

Duke outgained Virginia in total yards 461-394.
