Recap: NC State vs. Virginia

Raleigh, NC (Sports Network) - Kevin Parks rushed for 115 yards and a touchdown as the Virginia Cavaliers captured their first Atlantic Coast Conference win of the season with a 33-6 rout of NC State at Carter-Finley Stadium.

Both Phillip Sims and Michael Rocco were utilized at quarterback for Virginia (2-6, 1-4 ACC). Sims got the start and completed 8-of-10 pass attempts for 115 yards and a touchdown. Rocco had more pass attempts, completing 12-of-23, but threw for only 83 yards and a touchdown. Darius Jennings hauled in six passes for 57 yards and a score as the Cavaliers put an end to a six-game losing streak.

Mike Glennon completed 23-of-46 pass attempts for 197 yards and a touchdown but was intercepted three times for NC State (5-4, 2-3). Shadrach Thornton rushed for a team-high 28 yards on a day when the Wolfpack only netted 19 rushing yards as a team.

Sims went a perfect 4-for-4 on the Cavaliers' opening drive and then punched it in from a yard out for a touchdown.

Michael Rocco came in for Sims on the Cavalier's third possession of the game and marched the team 68 yards on 10 plays ending in an 18-yard touchdown pass to Jennings.

The Cavalier defense put points on the board when Will Hill sacked Glennon in the end zone for a safety late in the second quarter.

Sims threw a 38-yard touchdown pass to Tim Smith on the Cavaliers' first drive of the second half as Virginia expanded its least to 23-0.

Drew Jarrett connected on a 33-yard field goal at the beginning of the fourth quarter for the Cavaliers.

NC State finally got on the board with just over six minutes left in regulation when Glennon connected with Mario Carter for a two-yard touchdown pass. The ensuing two-point conversion attempt failed.

Parks scored on a 31-yard rushing touchdown a little more than two minutes later as the Cavaliers coasted to the win.

Virginia more than doubled NC State's total offensive production (446-216) and forced five Wolfpack turnovers.
