Recap: Louisiana vs. Western Ky

Lafayette, LA (Sports Network) - Terrance Broadway ran into the end zone from 14 yards out for a touchdown with less than a minute remaining to lift the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns to a 31-27 victory over the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers in a Sun Belt conference game at Cajun Field.

Broadway threw for 258 yards on 23-of-33 passing and also had 145 yards on the ground for Louisiana (6-4, 4-2 Sun Belt). Alonzo Harris finished with 104 yards rushing while Torrey Price added 68 yards and a pair of scores on the ground. Harry Peoples hauled in 13 passes for 144 yards.

The loss spoiled a career-night for Antonio Andrew who rushed for 238 yards and a pair of touchdowns for Western Kentucky (6-5, 3-4). Kawaun Jakes threw for only 149 yards and an interception while completing 10-of-18 pass attempts.

Keshawn Simpson's one-yard rushing touchdown less than five minutes into the second quarter put Western Kentucky ahead 7-0.

On the ensuing drive, Pierce capped off a five-play, 84-yard drive with an 18 yard touchdown run to pull the Ragin' Cajuns even.

The teams then traded field goals with Garrett Schettman hitting a 42-yarder for Western Kentucky and Brett Baer knocking in a 23-yarder for Louisiana.

The Hilltoppers went ahead yet again, 13-10, on a 25-yard field goal from Schettman in the third quarter.

Pierce's second touchdown run of the game, a 15-yard effort, gave Louisiana its first lead of the contest, 17-13.

In the fourth quarter Western Kentucky scored 14 unanswered points on a pair of touchdown runs from Andrews. The first was a 17-yard rush and the second a 13-yard effort. After those two scores the Hilltoppers led 27-17 with six minutes remaining.

The Ragin' Cajuns were far from finished though with Broadway hooking up with Jamal Robinson for a four-yard touchdown pass with less than three minutes left in regulation.

Western Kentucky was unable to run out the clock on its next possession and punted the ball to Louisiana with just 1:32 left on the clock. That was plenty of time for Broadway who drove the Ragin' Cajuns 93 yards in just 54 seconds for the winning score.

Louisiana had a 582-415 edge in total yards and converted 6-of-10 attempts on third down.
