The Hilltoppers created some distance on the scoreboard with two more touchdown passes. Jakes completed a five-yard touchdown pass to Austin Aikens and a 19- yard scoring strike to Doyle to give WKU a 28-7 lead.

The Warhawks battled back before the half. Browning rushed 20 yards for a score and then completed a 30-yard touchdown pass in the final seconds of the second quarter to reduce WKU's lead to 28-21 heading into the intermission.

After a scoreless third quarter, ULM tied the score with a 16-yard touchdown pass from Browning to Colby Harris with 11:23 left on the clock. WKU took back control with a two-yard touchdown run with 2:29 remaining, which gave the Hilltoppers a 35-28 lead.

With the pressure on, Browning guided the Warhawks to a seven-play, 90-yard drive that was punctuated by a 12-yard touchdown pass to Rashon Ceasar with 31 seconds left in regulation.

In overtime, Jakes rushed across the goal line to give WKU a 42-35 lead. Browning matched his counterpart's rushing score with a three-yard rush into the end zone. ULM then elected to go for the win and after scrambling around, Browning completed a pass to Caesar for the victory.
