Recap: Fresno State vs. Hawaii

Fresno, CA (Sports Network) - Derek Carr threw for 304 yards and four touchdowns as the Fresno State Bulldogs cruised to a 45-10 win over the Hawaii Warriors in Mountain West Conference action at Bulldog Stadium.

Carr, who became just the second quarterback in program history to have a pair of 3,000-yard passing campaigns, converted 15-of-23 passes for the Bulldogs (7-3, 5-1 MWC) as they won their third straight and the fifth in six tries. Robbie Rouse delivered 102 yards and a score on 13 carries as he became the first running back in FSU history to have three seasons with at least 1,000 yards rushing.

The Warriors (1-7, 0-5), losers of six straight, were paced by Sean Schroeder who converted 16-of-30 passes for 162 yards, but was picked off once and sacked five times. The team as a whole connected on 21-of-38 passes for 221 yards in the setback.

The Bulldogs scored four straight touchdowns to open the game, beginning with an eight-yard scoring pass from Carr to Rashad Evans, followed by a 47-yard pass from Carr to Dillon Root. Greg Watson added a one-yard TD run late in the first quarter and Rouse then crossed the goal line on a 51-yard scamper early in the second to make the score 28-0.

Hawaii stopped the bleeding momentarily with a 49-yard field goal by Tyler Hadden at the 7:03 mark of the second frame, but that still left the hosts plenty of time for Carr to deliver scoring strikes of 45 and 31 yards to Davante Adams and Isaiah Burse, respectively, leading to a commanding 42-3 advantage at the break.

In the third quarter FSU kicker Quentin Breshears knocked through a 32-yard field goal for the only points of the period.

With 3:06 to play in the fourth, the Warriors capped a seven-play, 75-yard drive with a five-yard TD run by Jeremy Higgins, but it wasn't nearly enough to keep Hawaii from remaining winless against Football Bowl Subdivision opponents this season.

The Warriors, flagged nine times for 90 yards while generating just 300 total yards on the evening, have just one win this season, a 54-2 thrashing of Lamar at home back on Sept. 15. The last victory for the team against another member of the FBS came against Tulane (35-23) in late November of last season.

The Inside Line: Kyle Busch's chances of making the Chase

Kyle Busch won Sunday's road course race in Sonoma, California, but he still has a long way to go to become eligible for a spot in the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship.

Extra Points: Bennett is far down on Seahawks' list

NFL players have a very short shelf life to make significant amounts of money so it's tough to fault anyone who has outperformed a contract when they go knocking on the door to ask for more.

Mackanin to remain Phillies interim manager

Pete Mackanin will remain interim manager of the Philadelphia Phillies for the remainder of the season, the team announced Tuesday.
