Recap: Fresno State vs. Air Force

Fresno, CA (Sports Network) - Derek Carr surpassed 400 yards passing for the sixth time this season as the Fresno State Bulldogs routed the Air Force Falcons, 48-15, at Bulldog Stadium.

Fresno State (9-3, 7-1 MWC) clinches at least a share of the Mountain West title with the victory. San Diego State also finished the season 7-1, while Boise State is 6-1 and will finish its season next week against Nevada.

Carr finished with 452 yards and four touchdowns on 28-of-32 passing. Robbie Rouse led the Bulldogs on the ground with 106 yards on 25 carries. Davante Adams had a career day, catching nine passes for 141 yards and two touchdowns, while Isaiah Burse caught seven for 158 and a score.

Air Force (6-6, 5-3) quarterback Connor Dietz threw just four times, completing two passes for 32 yards and a touchdown. Cody Getz led the Falcons on the ground with 82 yards on 19 tries. 12 players recorded at least one carry.

The Bulldogs took a quick lead after the Falcons were forced to punt on their first possession of the game. Carr threw twice on the scoring drive, once to Burse for 28 yards and a 64-yard strike to Adams for the score. Carr became the sixth quarterback in FBS history to surpass 7,000 passing yards with the touchdown throw.

Carr threw his second touchdown pass of the game just minutes later. Phillip Thomas sacked Dietz and caused a fumble, which was recovered by fellow Bulldog Shawn Plummer. Two plays later, Carr and Burse hooked up for a 36-yard score.

Desperate to make a splash, Air Force gambled on fourth down on it's next possession but Getz was stuffed for a marginal gain. Fresno State took advantage, once again marching right down the field and scoring on a Rouse halfback pass to Marcel Jensen. Fresno led 21-0 after the first quarter.

Air Force made it 21-7 when Dietz and Ty MacArthur hooked up for a 10-yard touchdown pass early in the second quarter.

The Bulldogs went on to score the final ten points of the half on a Quentin Breshears 26-yard field goal and a short touchdown pass from Carr to Jensen. At halftime, Fresno led 31-7. Carr was nearly flawless in the first half, completing 90 percent of his throws.

After turning the ball over on downs on it's first drive of the second half, Fresno State bounced back and Greg Watson scored on the ground from one-yard out. Carr completed his terrific afternoon with another touchdown pass to Adams later in the period, this one from 24 yards out.

Breshears added his second field goal of the afternoon early in the fourth quarter.Anthony LaCoste added a late touchdown run and two-point conversion for Air Force to conclude the scoring.

Air Force still leads the all-time series, 4-3.
