Recap: Wyoming vs. Air Force

Laramie, WY (Sports Network) - Connor Dietz threw for 141 yards and rushed for 92 to lead the Air Force Falcons in a 28-27 comeback victory over the Wyoming Cowboys in Mountain West Conference action at War Memorial Stadium.

Dietz completed 7-of-9 pass attempts and also threw for a pair of scores for Air Force (3-3, 2-1 MWC). Wes Cobb and Cody Getz combined for 90 yards rushing as well for the Falcons.

Jason Thompson threw for 195 yards and a score on 23-for-36 passing for Wyoming (1-5, 0-2). Thompson also had 75 yards on the ground. Combined with the efforts of D.J. May (94 yards, TD) and Shaun Wick (79 yards, TD) the Cowboys rushed for 252 yards. Chris McNeill caught nine passes for 72 yards and a touchdown.

Wyoming took the lead initially capping g a 13-play. 99-yard drive with a nine-yard touchdown run from Wick. The Cowboys then went for two but the attempt failed.

Air Force was able to take a 7-6 lead on its next drive with a 41-yard touchdown pass from Dietz to Dontae Strickland.

The Cowboys retook the lead on a four-yard touchdown pass from Thompson to McNeil. After a successful two-point conversion Wyoming led 14-7.

That lead grew to 21-7 when May scored on a one-yard run a little over five minutes later. The drive was set up by a fumble recovery by B.J. Sumter.

Air Force responded with a 46-yard touchdown pass from Dietz to Ty MacArthur to cut into the Cowboy lead.

Stuart Williams connected on a 42-yard field goal for Wyoming as time expired in the first half.

Williams also got the first score of the second half with a 33-yard field goal.

Air Force would cut into the Cowboys' lead with a two-yard touchdown run from Jon Lee at the end of the third quarter.

The Falcons would eventually take the lead again on a five-yard rushing touchdown from Kale Pearson midway through the fourth quarter.

Pearson's score ended up being the decisive blow as Wyoming failed to score on its only other possession of the game.

Wyoming lost despite outgaining Air Force in total yards by a 447-371 margin.
