Recap: Colorado State vs. UNLV

Fort Collins, CO (Sports Network) - Donnell Alexander rushed for 139 yards and a pair of touchdowns to lift the Colorado State Rams to a 33-11 win over the UNLV Rebels in a Mountain West Conference duel at Hughes Stadium.

Conner Smith threw for only 109 yards on 16-of-27 passing and was also intercepted for Colorado State (3-7, 2-4, MWC). Nine different receivers caught passes for the Rams.

Tim Cornett rushed for 102 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries for UNLV (2-8, 2-4). Nick Sherry threw for 88 yards and a touchdown and was intercepted twice while completing 12-of-30 pass attempts.

It was Colorado State's defense that accounted for the first score of the game with Shaquil Barrett returning an interception 49 yards for a touchdown.

Colorado State's next score came by even less traditional means. Bradley Randle fumbled on a rush attempt at the UNLV 30, but the ball was scooped up by the Rams' Shaq Bell, who ran it 30 yards into the end zone.

A 10-yard rushing touchdown from Alexander came after Colorado State recovered a fumble on a punt return by the Rebels. After Alexander's score the Rams led 21-0.

Jared Roberts would add a 49-yard field goal just before the break to give Colorado State a 24-0 lead going into the locker room.

Roberts struck again, this time from 32 yards late in the third quarter.

UNLV finally scored at the beginning of the fourth quarter on a one-yard touchdown pass from Sherry to Max Johnson. With a successful two-point conversion the score stood at 27-8.

Colorado State would answer on its next possession with a 14-yard touchdown run from Alexander.

Nolan Kohorst would add a 33-yard field goal for UNLV near the end of the fourth quarter.

Colorado State had a 340-219 edge in total yards and an almost 10 minute advantage in time of possession.
