San Diego, CA (Sports Network) - Ryan Katz completed 16-of-22 passes for 181 yards and two touchdowns along with one rushing touchdown to lead the San Diego Aztecs to a 38-14 victory over the Colorado State Rams in a Mountain West Conference game at Qualcomm Stadium.

The San Diego State (4-3, 2-1 MWC) offense had a balanced running attack throughout the game. Adam Muema had 105 yards rushing on 14 carries and two touchdowns. Walter Kazee had 14 carries and 95 yards on the ground.

Colorado State (1-5, 0-3) had issues offensively. Their starting quarterback, M.J. McPeek got injured midway through the second quarter. McPeek completed 6- of-13 passes for 49 yards and one touchdown with one interception. Conner Smith came in for the injured McPeek and completed 18-of-22 passes for 165 yards and an interception.

The Aztecs scored quickly within four plays when Muema scored on a 51-yard run into the end zone to give SDSU the first score of the game.

CSU responded with a two-yard touchdown pass from McPeek to Kivon Carthwright on a fourth and goal to tie the game up, 7-7.

The Aztecs regained possession and Katz connected with Chad Young for a seven-yard touchdown to add on to their lead, 17-7.

McPeek got injured midway through the second quarter and Smith took his place, making his first collegiate appearance.

On the first play of the second half Marquise Law fumbled the ball and Aztec Jake Fely recovered it. Katz took no time to put up points and took it into the end zone for an 11-yard touchdown run, which made the score 24-7.

Smith threw a crucial interception to the Aztec defense midway through the third quarter. Katz took advantage of the CSU mistake again when he connected with Brice Butler for a 15-yard touchdown to push the Aztec lead to 31-7.

The Aztecs added to their lead when Muema punched it in from a yard out and gave them a 38-7 lead.

The Rams responded with a one yard touchdown run by Morris, but they still trailed, 38-14.

The Aztec offense ran out the clock in the fourth quarter, which gave them the final victory.
