That lead grew to 14-0 when Saqwan Edwards ran into the end zone from six yards out later in the first quarter.

The Lobos lead continued to grow as Carrier scored again, this time from a yard out. The touchdown run capped off a 14-play, 66-yard drive that took 7:21 off the clock.

Hawaii got on the board midway through the second quarter with a 51-yard touchdown pass from Schroeder to Scott Harding.

The Warriors pulled even closer with a 49-yard field goal from Tyler Hadden just before the end of the first half.

Cole Gautsche scored on a 76-yard rushing touchdown to push New Mexico's lead to 28-10 late in the third quarter.

Greg Rivara returned the ensuing kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown to keep Hawaii within striking distance.

Hawaii would pull even closer with a one-yard touchdown run from John Lister midway through the fourth quarter.

New Mexico then rattled off an 11-play, 75-yard drive that took six minutes off the clock, capped by a five-yard rushing touchdown by B.R. Holbrook.

New Mexico rushed for 332 yards as a team compared to 119 by Hawaii. The Warriors converted only 1-of-4 red zone trips into a score.
