Recap: So Florida vs. Rutgers

Tampa, FL (Sports Network) - Freshman Kyle Federico kicked three field goals, including the go-ahead boot late in the fourth quarter, as Rutgers came away with a 23-13 win over South Florida Thursday at Raymond James Stadium.

Gary Nova threw for 277 yards and a touchdown on 23-of-42 passing, while Jawan Jamison rushed for 151 yards and a touchdown on 41 carries for the Scarlet Knights (3-0, 1-0 Big East).

Timothy Wright led the receiving corps with eight catches for 125 yards and Mark Harrison hauled in five passes for 41 yards and a score in the victory.

B.J. Daniels threw for 242 yards and three interceptions on 15-of-33 passing, while Demetris Murray ran for 27 yards and a touchdown on nine carries for the Bulls (2-1, 0-1 Big East). Andre Davis caught eight passes for 84 yards in the setback.

With the game tied, 13-13 and 6:06 showing on the fourth-quarter clock, Rutgers began the go-ahead scoring drive from its own 44.

Facing a 2nd-and-7, Nova hit a wide open Wright down the left sideline for 46 yards to the South Florida seven-yard line.

The offense failed to punch it into the end zone, but Federico was good from 22 yards out to give the Scarlet Knights a 16-13 lead.

South Florida started its ensuing drive on the 35, but Daniels' pass on 4th- and-3 fell incomplete, giving the ball back to Rutgers with 2:13 left.

On 2nd-and-9 from the Bulls' 41, Jamison broke through the line for a 41-yard sprint to the end zone, sealing the final result.

South Florida struck first on its second possession of the game as Maikon Bonani capped an eight-play, 38-yard drive with a 41-yard field goal, giving the Bulls the early lead.

The Bulls began their third possession at the Rutgers 36 following a botched punt recovery by Reshard Cliett. From there, South Florida could only move the ball to the 29 and Bonani booted a 46-yarder to make it 6-0.

Rutgers got on the board late in the second quarter with a methodical 12-play drive the culminated with a 51-yard field goal from Federico, making it 6-3 at halftime.

Following a fumble recovery by Rutgers' Marcus Cooper, the Scarlet Knights began their second drive of the second half at the South Florida 37.

Nova completed a big 3rd-and-10 pass to Wright for 13 yards down to the Bulls 13, but the drive stalled and Federico connected from 30 yards out to tie the game at six.

On South Florida's ensuing possession, Daniels was picked off by Jamal Merrell, giving possession back to Rutgers at the Bulls' 30.

From there, the Scarlet Knights marched down to the 6 and Nova hit Harrison in the end zone for a 6-yard touchdown strike and a 13-6 lead with seven minutes showing on the third-quarter clock.

Early in the fourth, the Bulls got even, using an extensive nine-play, 68-yard drive to get down to the goal line before Murray plowed his way over the line for a one-yard touchdown push.
