With the Bobcat offense struggling to start the game, Daz'mond Patterson put his team on the board when he found a gap and returned a kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown.

Ohio then scored on two, one-play drives resulting from Buffalo turnovers that gave the Bobcats the ball inside the red zone. After a Neutz fumble, Blankenship ran in for a 14-yard touchdown and after a fumble on a punt return, Tettleton hit Futrell for a 15-yard touchdown. The Bobcats led 21-14 after three unanswered touchdowns.

Matt Weller hit a 45-yard field goal to extend Ohio's lead, but then Buffalo answered when Dennison found Neutz on a halfback pass for a 55-yard touchdown catch after which the Bulls deficit was cut to a field goal.

Patrick Clarke hit a 30-yard field goal late in the third quarter to tie the ball game at 24-24.

The Bobcats took the lead right back at the start of the fourth quarter after Boykin ran in a one-yard touchdown to complete an 11-play, 65-yard drive.

Boykin then broke free for a 51-yard touchdown that extended the Ohio lead to 38-24.

The Bulls drove 77 yards down the field on eight plays and Dennison ran in a one-yard touchdown to make the score 38-31 with just eight seconds remaining. The ensuing onside kick was recovered by Ohio, which was then able to run out the clock.
