Recap: Arkansas vs. Southern Miss

Fayetteville, AR (Sports Network) - Another 100-yard rushing effort from both Alex Collins and Jonathan Williams paved the way for Arkansas to claim a 24-3 win over the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles in non-conference play from Razorback Stadium.

Williams ran for a game-high 116 yards and a touchdown, while Collins finished with 115 yards and a score to help the Razorbacks (3-0) remain unbeaten under first-year coach Brett Bielema. It marked the third straight game to open the season that Collins and Williams have each eclipsed 100 yards rushing.

The Golden Eagles (0-3) suffered their 15th consecutive loss. Jalen Richard had 94 yards on 14 carries, but Southern Miss finished with only 254 yards of total offense for the game.

Brandon Allen capped a 12-play, 89-yard Razorbacks drive with a five-yard touchdown run at the 3:52 mark of the opening quarter.

After the teams traded field goals in the second quarter, Arkansas pushed its lead to 17-3 on Williams' 45-yard touchdown burst midway through the third.

The Razorbacks chewed up more than seven and a half minutes of game clock in the fourth quarter with a 14-play, 81-yard drive. Collins finished off the drive with a seven-yard touchdown run to make it a 24-3 game.

Arkansas gained more yards on the ground (258) than USM gained altogether on offense for the game.
