Recap: Arkansas vs. So Carolina

Fayetteville, AR (SportsNetwork.com) - Connor Shaw threw three touchdown passes and ran for another as the 14th-ranked South Carolina Gamecocks dominated the Arkansas Razorbacks, 52-7, on Saturday.

Shaw completed 19-of-28 passes for 219 yards for the Gamecocks (5-1, 3-1 SEC), who have won four in a row since a loss at Georgia on Sept. 7. The senior quarterback also carried the ball 14 times for 37 yards.

"Coming into this week, all you heard was leading the league in sacks, have two really good pass rushers. I thought our offensive line played really well," Shaw said. "I think I took two sacks. Overall, I think we played really, really well up front and played smart today."

Mike Davis carried the ball 19 times for 128 yards and a score for South Carolina, which won in Arkansas for the first time since the 2005 season. Bruce Ellington hauled in six passes for 96 yards and two touchdowns.

South Carolina star defensive end Jadeveon Clowney returned to the lineup after missing last week's game with a much-debated injury.

Brandon Allen connected on just 4-of-12 passes for 30 yards and an interception for the Razorbacks (3-4, 0-3), who have lost four in a row since starting the season 3-0.

"Today is a day that you have to put in the memory bank, acknowledge and never let it happen again, as a head coach, assistant coach, coordinator, player," Arkansas coach Bret Bielema said.

Arkansas actually scored a touchdown on the opening drive of the game. The Razorbacks used three straight plays of at least 16 yards to move the ball inside the red zone. Alex Collins capped the march with a 6-yard rushing touchdown.

South Carolina moved the ball down the field on its first drive, but had to settle for a 33-yard Elliott Fry field goal.

The Gamecocks then came up with a big play on defense. Victor Hampton picked off Allen deep in Arkansas territory, and the turnover led to Davis' 6-yard TD run.

South Carolina bridged the first and second quarters with an 11-play, 71-yard scoring drive. Shamier Jeffery caught an 11-yard pass and Shaw ripped off a 14-yard run prior to Ellington's 9-yard touchdown catch.

The Gamecocks added to their margin just before half. Damiere Byrd and Ellington hauled in passes of 12 and 11 yards, respectively, to move the ball inside the red zone. On 4th-and-2 from the Arkansas 7-yard line, Shaw picked up a first down with his legs. Ellington's 4-yard TD catch made it 24-7 with 13 seconds left in the half.

South Carolina continued to roll in the second half. Byrd caught a 45-yard TD pass from Shaw on the sixth play of the third quarter.

Keon Hatcher fumbled on the ensuing Arkansas possession. South Carolina followed with a 15-play, 79-yard scoring drive that Shaw capped with a 10-yard TD run.

Dylan Thompson's 15-yard TD pass to Kane Whitehurst made it 45-7 with 9:18 left in the fourth period.

Another Arkansas turnover led to Brendan Nosovitch's 7-yard TD run.
