Recap: Ole Miss vs. Idaho

Oxford, MS (SportsNetwork.com) - Bo Wallace and Barry Brunetti both threw a pair of touchdown passes as the Ole Miss Rebels crushed the Idaho Vandals, 59-14, in non-conference action at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.

Wallace completed 15-of-22 passes for 186 yards and Brunetti hit on all seven of his attempts for another 94 yards as the Rebels (5-3) posted their second win in as many tries. Ja-Mes Logan reeled in six passes for 122 yards and two TDs, while Jaylen Walton scored twice on the ground and I'Tavius Mathers produced a game-high 138 yards and a TD on 14 rushing attempts for the hosts.

As for the Vandals (1-7), losers of three straight, they were led by quarterback Taylor Davis who connected on 12-of-30 pass attempts for 166 yards and a score, adding another TD on the ground in the setback.

Ole Miss opened up a 17-0 lead in the first quarter thanks to a 37-yard TD pass from Wallace to Logan, a 40-yard scoring run by Walton and a 50-yard Andrew Ritter field goals.

Early in the second frame the Vandals capped a nine-play, 75-yard drive with a two-yard TD run by Davis.

The Rebels added to their advantage before the end of the half with a one-yard scoring run by Walton, giving the hosts a 24-7 edge at the break.

Old Miss tacked on two more touchdowns in the third as Logan and Wallace combined on a 65-yard passing score and Dehendret Collins returned a fumble 12 yards for another TD, providing the home team with a commanding 38-7 cushion.

At the 6:04 mark of the third Idaho's offense responded with a 62-yard TD pass from Davis to Dezmon Epps, but again Ole Miss had an answer for that, specifically three more touchdowns.

The late burst for the Rebels began with a 64-yard TD run by Mathers, continued with touchdown passes of 30 and 35 yards from Brunetti to Mark Dodson and Collins Moore, respectively.

Ole Miss produced season highs in both rushing yards (292) and total offense (572 yards), marking the second straight game and the third time this season that the team was able to eclipse the 500-yard total.

The 59 points were the most scored by Ole Miss since the team tallied the same total in a shutout against ULM on Nov. 15, 2008.
