Recap: Navy vs. Pittsburgh

Annapolis, MD (SportsNetwork.com) - Nick Sloan's 30-yard field goal as time expired lifted the Navy Midshipmen to a 24-21 win over the Pittsburgh Panthers in non-conference play at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.

The Midshipmen (4-3) scored the game's final 10 points with less than four minutes remaining in regulation to move to 3-0 at home while also snapping a two-game slide. Keenan Reynolds threw for 105 yards and a touchdown, and he also ran for a game-high 93 yards and a score.

For the Panthers (4-3), Tom Savage completed 20-of-27 passes for 203 yards and two TDs. Running back Isaac Bennett was bottled up to just 77 yards on 22 carries (3.5 ypc).

Pitt opened the game with a 16-play drive that lasted seven and a half minutes. However, the drive eventually stalled and the Panthers had to settle for a 25-yard field goal from Chris Blewitt.

Navy took to the air for its first score of the day, as Reynolds found Marcus Thomas for a 58-yard touchdown pass at the 13:07 mark of the second quarter.

Pitt answered with a 44-yard field goal from Blewitt to cut the deficit to 7-6.

The Panthers regained the lead with 1:41 to play in the half, as Savage found Devin Street for a 12-yard touchdown pass, capping a nine-play, 74-yard drive that lasted more than five minutes.

After a scoreless third quarter, Navy regained the lead, 14-13, on a nine-yard touchdown run by Quinton Singleton at the 14:28 mark of the fourth quarter. That TD punctuated a 16-play drive that traveled 91 yards and lasted 8:15.

Pitt responded with an 11 play drive of its own that used up more than six minutes of game clock. Savage capped it with a three-yard TD pass to Tyler Boyd, and then Savage connected with Street on the two-point conversion to give the Panthers a 21-14 lead with 8:07 to play in regulation.

Navy tied the score on a two-yard touchdown run by Reynolds with 3:52 remaining. The Midshipmen defense then forced a three-and-out, and Matt Yoklic's punt traveled only 20 yards to midfield. Reynolds moved the Navy offense 36 yards in just over two minutes to set up Sloan's game-winning kick as time expired.

Pitt lost despite out-gaining the Mids in total offense, 338-325.
