Recap: Temple vs. Army

Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Led by P.J. Walker's two touchdown passes, the Temple Owls defeated the Army Black Knights at Lincoln Financial Field, 33-14, for their first win of the season.

Temple's (1-6) offense has struggled all year but was able to get going against Army. Walker was 10-of-16 passing for 203 yards with his two scores and a pick. Zaire Williams had 94 rushing yards and a touchdown on 19 carries. Jalen Fitzpatrick led all receivers with 128 yards and a touchdown on four catches.

For Army (3-5), Kelvin White had 79 passing yards, a touchdown and two interceptions on 7-of-16 completions. He also added 47 yards and a score on the ground. Larry Dixon had 16 rushing attempts for 84 yards. Xavier Moss added 40 receiving yards on five catches.

Temple started the game off strong by scoring on its first drive, as Kenneth Harper had a one-yard touchdown rush to put the Owls up, 7-0.

The Owls scored on their next possession as well. This time it was a 37-yard touchdown pass from Walker to Fitzpatrick.

Walker connected on a 39-yard touchdown pass to John Christopher with 3:43 left in the first half. The Owls led 20-0 after Nick Visco missed the extra- point.

Army fumbled on its next drive, and it was recovered and returned for a 19- yard touchdown by Nate Smith. After a failed two-point conversion, the Owls took a 26-0 lead into halftime.

Temple continued to pour it on after halftime, as Williams ripped off a 15- yard touchdown rush early in the third quarter.

Army finally scored with 3:19 left in the third when White completed a 14-yard pass to Patrick Laird for a touchdown.

The Black Knights continued to make a push on offense in the fourth quarter, as White ran in a one-yard touchdown, but that would be the final score of the afternoon.

The win for Temple was Matt Rhule's first as the Owls' coach.

Army came into Saturday ranked first in the nation in rushing, averaging 352.3 yards a game. Temple held the Black Knights to 255 yards on the ground.
