Recap: Middle Tennessee vs. Texas-El Paso

Murfreesboro, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - Logan Kilgore passed for 325 yards and two touchdowns as the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders coasted to a 48-17 victory over the Texas-El Paso Miners in a Conference USA matchup at Floyd Stadium.

Kilgore threw a pick six, but completed 19-of-27 attempts while leading the Blue Raiders (8-4, 6-2 C-USA) to their fifth-straight win. Jeremiah Bryson tallied a career-high 120 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries while Jordan Parker added 85 yards and a score on just seven rushing attempts. T.T. Barber made and impact on the defensive side of the ball with two tackles for loss and a fumble recovery.

Mack Leftwich finished 14-of-24 for 122 yards for UTEP (2-10, 1-7), which concluded its first year under coach Sean Kugler with the loss. Nathan Jeffery contributed 140 yards and a pair of scores on 20 carries. Dashone Smith paced the Miners' defensive unit with 11 tackles.

Middle Tennessee took control in the first quarter with three consecutive scores. Kilgore completed a 21-yard touchdown pass to Marcus Henry just over four minutes after the opening kickoff. The Blue Raiders drove deep into UTEP territory near the midpoint of the first period before settling for a 21-yard field goal by Cody Clark. Shane Tucker punched it in from a yard out at the 3:06 mark of the opening stanza to give hosts a 17-0 lead.

The Blue Raiders continued their momentum as Bryson scored on a 10-yard run just moments into the second quarter. The Miners finally responded as Jeffery rushed three yards across the goal line with 8:31 left to play in the first half.

Middle Tennessee answered with a 10-play, 75-yard drive which Kilgore finished off with a 25-yard pass to Tavarres Jefferson for a score. Clark converted a 26-yard field goal try in the closing seconds of the second quarter to send the Blue Raiders into the intermission with a 34-7 advantage.

Bryson dashed six yards into the end zone just over a minute after the opening kickoff of the third quarter.

Jeffery scored on a one-yard run at the 10:16 mark of the third period to end the Blue Raiders' streak of 17 unanswered points. Jay Mattox connected on a 41-yard field goal attempt with 5:55 left in the third quarter to cut Middle Tennessee's lead down to 41-17, but Parker broke away for a 36-yard touchdown run four minutes later to pull further away.

Neither side managed to produce any points over the final 17 minutes of action.

The Blue Raiders amassed 629 yards of total offense and 27 first downs. UTEP was limited to only 14 first downs and 299 total yards.
