Las Cruces, NM (SportsNetwork.com) - Austin Franklin reeled in two touchdown catches as the New Mexico State Aggies held on for a 24-16 victory over the Idaho Vandals in the regular season finale for both sides at Aggie Memorial Stadium.

Franklin finished with six grabs and 64 receiving yards for NMSU (2-10) as it snapped a three-game losing streak with the decision. Andrew McDonald completed 17-of-27 pass attempts for 186 yards and was picked off once. Germi Morrison gained 111 yards on 17 carries while Trashaun Nixon anchored the Aggies' defensive unit with 12 stops, one tackle for loss and a forced fumble.

Taylor Davis connected on 21-of-41 throws for 250 yards with one touchdown and an interception for Idaho (1-11). Davis's favorite target was Najee Lovett, who tallied 82 yards on eight receptions. James Baker rushed eight times for a team-high 48 yards to help the Vandals amass 209 yards on the ground.

The Aggies struck first as McDonald completed a 28-yard touchdown pass to Franklin with 6:24 remaining in the opening quarter.

Idaho evened the score at seven in the first minute of the second stanza when Davis connected with Michael LaGrone for a 56-yard touchdown pass. The Vandals then took the lead at the 7:34 mark of the second period as Austin Rehkow chipped in a 25-yard field goal try. After McDonald lost a fumble deep in Aggies territory, Rehkow converted a 27-yard field goal attempt to give the Vandals a 13-7 advantage.

NMSU narrowed the deficit just before halftime as Maxwell Johnson sent a 36- yard field goal attempt through the uprights.

The Aggies took back control after the intermission as McDonald threw a seven- yard pass for a score to Franklin with 9:21 remaining in the third quarter. Idaho managed to make its way into the red zone on its ensuing drive, but once again could not cross the goal line. Rehkow made a 25-yard field goal which left NMSU ahead, 17-16, with just under five minutes left until the finale frame.

The Aggies created some distance on the scoreboard at the 14:12 mark of the fourth quarter as Adam Shapiro concluded a 14-play, 75-yard drive with an eight-yard touchdown run. Idaho had its next drive end at the NMSU 13-yard line as Davis was intercepted by Darien Johnson. The Vandals' defense forced a punt, but they turned the ball over on downs on their next possession.

NMSU tried to put the game out of reach as Johnson lined up for a 45-yard field goal try, but it was blocked which gave Idaho the ball at its own 21- yard line with 1:30 left in regulation. Davis guided the offense into the Aggies' red zone, but the game clock expired after an incompletion on third down.

Despite the loss, Idaho racked up 459 yards of total offense and limited the Aggies to 371 total yards. The Vandals could not overcome their eight penalties, which sent them back 95 yards.
