Manhattan, KS (Sports Network) - John Hubert rushed for a game-high 118 yards on 18 carries, as the Kansas State Wildcats defeated the Massachusetts Minutemen, 37-7, in a non-conference matchup at Bill Snyder Family Stadium.

Jake Waters threw for 115 yards on 5-of-10 passing, including touchdown passes of 50 and 43 yards, for the Wildcats (2-1). Waters added 74 yards rushing, while Daniel Sams ran for 77 yards and a score on just 11 carries, as the Wildcats accumulated 329 rushing yards on the night after producing just 190 yards total on the ground through their first two games of the season.

A.J. Doyle led the aerial attack for the Minutemen (0-3), finishing the night with 186 yards on 21-of-31 passing, but was intercepted twice. Stacey Bedell was the top rusher for the visitors, netting 81 yards and a score on 23 carries. Tajae Sharpe snagged nine receptions for 98 yards, both game highs.

On the Minutemen's initial possession of the game, Doyle's second pass attempt was intercepted by Kip Daily and returned 38 yards for a touchdown. The extra point was blocked, leaving the Wildcats with the early 6-0 lead. Daily had two interceptions on the night.

The Minutemen got on the board at the end of the first quarter when a 46-yard drive was finished off by a Bedell two-yard touchdown run to give them a 7-6 lead.

The Wildcats had a trio of touchdowns in the second quarter to take the lead and control of the game. Sams scored on a one-yard run that capped off a 75- yard drive giving them a 13-7 advantage. Robert Rose then found the end zone on a 26-yard run with 3:35 remaining in the half, followed by a 43-yard scoring strike from Waters to Hubert with only 11 seconds left.

Kansas State continued to pile on in the second half as Waters combined with Glenn Gronkowski on a 50-yard TD pass play to cap an eight-play, 85-yard driver in the third quarter. The only scoring in the fourth came on a 42-yard field goal by KSU's Jack Cantele to give the hosts a commanding 30-point lead.

KSU registered 456 total yards, averaging just under eight yards per play. On the defensive side of the ball, the Wildcats held UMass to 309 yards of total offense. The Minutemen had just five possessions in the second half, three ending on punts, one an interception and the other being a turnover on downs.
