Rudock's key target through the air was Kevonte Martin-Manley, who had six catches for 56 yards. Damon Powell had just one catch but it went for 74 yards and a touchdown. In the second quarter, Rudock managed a four-yard touchdown run and also hit Powell on a short completion that Powell took for a 74-yard score. Iowa led 17-0 at intermission.

Minnesota finally answered back when Nelson found Engel for a 23-yard scoring strike at the 3:06 mark of the third quarter.

Meyer added one more field goal, a 46-yarder with under five minutes left in the game.
