Charlottesville, VA (SportsNetwork.com) - Logan Thomas passed for 229 yards and the only touchdown of the contest as the Virginia Tech Hokies downed the Virginia Cavaliers, 16-6, in an Atlantic Coast Conference tilt at Scott Stadium.

Thomas connected on 13-of-29 pass attempts and was intercepted once while under center for Virginia Tech (8-4, 5-3 ACC). Trey Edmunds was the recipient of the touchdown pass and also paced the team on the ground with 93 yards on 11 carries. Demitri Knowles made four catches for 101 yards.

David Watford started for the Cavaliers (2-10, 0-8) before Greyson Lambert took over late in the third quarter. Watford finished 13-of-23 for 122 yards while Lambert completed only four of his 16 passes for 54 yards and was picked off once. Kevin Parks racked up a game-high 105 yards on 17 carries. Jake McGee made four receptions for 65 yards for Virginia as it ended its regular season on a nine-game losing streak.

Virginia Tech scored on the first possession of the game as Eric Kristensen chipped in a 22-yard field goal attempt after an 11-play, 78-yard drive. The Cavaliers responded with an eight-play, 57-yard drive that ended with a successful 36-yard field goal by Alec Vozenilek. The Hokies once again made their way into the red zone, but settled for a 30-yard field goal by Kristensen that sent them into the second stanza with a 6-3 lead.

Virginia tied the score with 12 minutes remaining in the second quarter as Vozenilek sent a 29-yard field goal try through the uprights. The Hokies went back ahead with 2:32 left before halftime as Kristensen made a 38-yard kick for three points.

Virginia Tech's offense finally finished off a drive as Thomas connected with Edmunds on a 26-yard pass for a score in the closing seconds of the first half. Kristensen's ensuing extra-point kick gave the Hokies a 16-6 advantage after 30 minutes.

Both sides were held scoreless after halftime. Thomas was intercepted on the Hokies inaugural drive of the third quarter and the Hokies were forced to punt on their next four drives. Virginia had four consecutive drives end with a punt to begin the second half before Lambert was intercepted with just over seven minutes left in regulation.

Virginia went 5-of-16 on third-down conversions and failed on both of its fourth-down conversion tries.
