The contest began with strong defensive play that forced both offenses to go three-and-out on their opening possessions. Louisiana took a 7-0 lead as Broadway connected with McGuire on an 80-yard touchdown pass just over three minutes after kickoff. Neither side managed to produce any more points in the first stanza.

The Panthers responded just after the beginning of the second quarter as Travis Evans rushed five yards into the end zone to create a 7-7 tie.

Georgia State made it a one-possession game in the closing seconds of the first half as Bell completed a 42-yard throw for a score to Rucker. Wil Lutz sent the ensuing extra-point attempt through the uprights to send the Panthers into the intermission with a 21-14 deficit.

The Panthers evened the score at 21 with just over five minutes remaining in the third frame as Bell completed a 22-yard scoring strike to Wilson.

Louisiana answered as Broadway connected with McGuire on a 36-yard scoring pass that gave the visitors a 28-21 lead heading into the final quarter of play.

The Cajuns added some insurance as Broadway threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Jamal Robinson with just over eight minutes left in regulation. Georgia State turned the ball over on downs to conclude all three of its drives in the fourth quarter.
