South Alabama finally got on the board with a 20-yard field goal late in the half and continued to cut into the deficit when Metheny scored on a three- yard rushing touchdown with 8:14 remaining in the third quarter.

The Bobcats added a 35-yard field goal by Dann in the final minute of the third to extend their lead to 17-10.

The fourth quarter saw a flurry of scoring, starting when Metheny connected with Ross on a 13-yard touchdown with just over 13 minutes to play in regulation.

A 37-yard field goal by Dann gave the Bobcats the lead back midway through the quarter and they extended that when Justin Iwuji intercepted a Metheny pass and returned it 29 yards for a touchdown to make the score 27-17.

Metheny bounced back and drove his team 75 yards in eight plays, capped off with a 42-yard touchdown pass to Woodson that cut the Bobcat lead to 27-24.

A 43-yard field goal by Dann with 2:22 remaining put the Bobcats up 30-24, but less than a minute later Metheny connected with Woodson for another big touchdown, this time a 43-yard scoring pass that gave the Jaguars the lead at 31-30 with 1:32 left in regulation.

Jones and the Bobcats moved the ball to the Jaguar 24 to set up Dann's game winner, converting a 4th-and-24 on the drive with a 51-yard pass to Ben Ijah which put the Bobcats in field goal range.
