Recap: Troy vs. Texas State

Troy, AL (SportsNetwork.com) - Bryan Holmes finished with 128 receiving yards and a score on three catches as the Troy Trojans became bowl eligible with a 42-28 victory over the Texas State Bobcats in a Sun Belt Conference regular season finale at Veterans Memorial Stadium.

Corey Robinson completed 17-of-22 pass attempts for 133 yards and a score for Troy (6-6, 4-3 SBC) as it snapped a three-game losing streak to earn its sixth win of the season. Deon Anthony hit on four of his five throws for 164 yards and two scores while also adding 40 rushing yards on five carries. Jordan Chunn rushed 13 times for 83 yards and a pair of touchdowns while Eric Thomas reeled in six receptions for 82 yards and a score.

The Bobcats (6-6, 2-5) lost their third game in a row to close out the campaign. Duke DeLancellotti finished 11-of-31 passing for 192 yards with two touchdowns against one interception. DeLancellotti also racked up 72 yards and a pair of scores on 17 rushing attempts. Terrence Franks contributed 80 yards on eight carries. Brandon Smith made a 70-yard catch en route to a team-high 79 receiving yards.

Texas State took a 7-0 lead at the 5:43 mark of the opening quarter as DeLancellotti connected with Ryan Carden on a seven-yard touchdown pass. The Trojans responded as Holmes reeled in a 58-yard throw from Anthony for a score.

Troy took its first lead with just over 13 minutes remaining in the first half as Chunn scored on a one-yard touchdown run. DeLancellotti rushed six yards into the end zone four minutes later to tie the score at 14.

The Trojans jumped back in front as Anthony found Thomas for a 43-yard touchdown pass with 8:14 remaining in the second period. Neither side managed to produce any more points before the break, which gave Troy a 21-14 halftime lead.

The hosts extended their lead in the third quarter when Chandler Worthy rushed one-yard for a touchdown with 4:23 remaining before the final frame.

The Trojans continued their run into the fourth quarter as Chunn punched it in from a yard out with 14:56 left in regulation.

Texas State finally answered 50 seconds later as DeLancellotti rushed one-yard for a touchdown. Troy responded with just over five minutes showing on the game clock as Robinson threw a 26-yard touchdown pass to Worthy. The Bobcats narrowed the deficit with just under three minutes left to play as Isaiah Battle caught a three-yard pass from DeLancellotti for six points. Jason Dann's successful extra-point try left Troy with a 42-28 lead, which the Trojans protected until time expired.

Troy amassed 461 total yards of offense with 297 yards coming through the air. Holmes also made an impact on special teams with a 42-yard punt return and 34 kick return yards.
