Recap: Western Ky vs. Troy
Bowling Green, KY (SportsNetwork.com) - Corey Robinson threw for 306 yards and helped the Troy Trojans to a 32-26 road victory in a Sun Belt Conference matchup against the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers at Houchens-Smith Stadium.
Robinson completed 20-of-32 pass attempts and threw a touchdown for Troy (5-3, 3-1 SBC). Jordan Chunn rushed for two touchdowns and just 19 yards on seven carries. Eric Thomas (five receptions, 74 yards), Chris Williams (four receptions, 61 yards, TD) and Bryan Holmes (two receptions, 68 yards) shared the bulk of the receiving output for the Trojans.
Western Kentucky's (4-4, 1-3 SBC) Brandon Doughty threw for 387 yards, completing 29-of-45 pass attempts. Antonio Andrews proved an all-around threat, rushing for 144 yards and a touchdown on 28 carries and adding another 125 yards on seven receptions.
Garrett Schwettman opened the scoring for the Hilltoppers just over five minutes into the game with a 29-yard field goal.
Troy answered with three points of its own on a 41-yard field goal from Will Scott.
With a minute left in the first quarter, the Trojans got out to a 10-3 lead on a Chunn rushing touchdown from a yard out.
WKU tied the game just over four minutes into the second quarter on a goal- line, rushing touchdown from Andrews. Leon Allen continued the scoring for the Hilltoppers seven minutes later with a three-yard touchdown run.
Increasing the WKU lead to 20-10 was a 33-yard field goal from Schwettman as time expired in the first half.
Troy opened the second-half scoring on a 40-yard touchdown pass from Robinson to Williams.
Schwettman converted a field goal from 24 yards out, extending the Hilltoppers's lead to 23-17.
A little more than a minute later, the Trojans would reclaim the lead after a nine-yard touchdown run from Deon Anthony.
The third-quarter scoring of the back-and-forth affair concluded with another Schwettman field goal from 37 yards away.
Early in the fourth quarter, Chunn ran three yards for his second touchdown, after which a sucessful two-point conversion lifted Troy to a 32-26 lead, which would stand as the game's final score.Game Notes
