Recap: Western Mich vs. Ball State

Kalamazoo, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - Keith Wenning threw for 324 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Ball State Cardinals to a 38-17 victory over the Western Michigan Broncos in a Mid-American Conference bout at Waldo Stadium.

Wenning did his damage on 25-of-37 passing and has now thrown for at least 300 yards in every game this season for Ball State (7-1, 4-0 MAC). Jahwan Edwards rushed for 92 yards and a score on 18 carries, while Horactio Banks (13 carries, 67 yards) also found the end zone. Wenning's top target was Willie Snead, who hauled in seven passes for 90 yards and a touchdown.

For WMU (0-8, 0-4), which has lost 10 straight dating back to last season, Zach Terrell completed 19-of-34 passes for 204 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Corey Davis had nine receptions for 103 yards and a touchdown for his third 100-yard receiving game of the season. Dareyon Chance rushed for 120 yards on 14 carries.

WMU lit up the scoreboard first midway through the first quarter on a 41-yard field goal by Andrew Haldeman. Ball State tied the contest up later in the frame when Scott Secor knocked through a 37-yard field goal.

The Cardinals took a 10-3 lead at the 9:03 mark of the second quarter on a 38- yard touchdown rush by Banks. They extended their advantage a few minutes later on a 42-yard touchdown pass from Wenning to Jamill Smith.

Ball State continued to build its lead early in the third quarter, as Wenning connected with Snead on a 27-yard touchdown pass.

WMU managed to bring its deficit to 14 at the start of the fourth quarter following an eight-yard touchdown pass from Terrell to Davis. However, the Cardinals effectively put the game away with 14 unanswered points. Wenning tossed a two-yard score to Zane Fakes, then Edwards ripped off a 25-yard touchdown run.

The Broncos' defense chipped in with under a minute to play, as Ronald Zamort recovered a fumble and returned it 26 yards for a touchdown.

Ball State was 9-of-17 on third down. WMU converted only 3-of-14 opportunities on third down.
