Mount Pleasant, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - Zurlon Tipton rushed for four touchdowns on his Senior Day as the Central Michigan Chippewas became bowl eligible with a 42-10 victory over the Eastern Michigan Eagles in a Mid- American Conference tilt at Kelly/Shorts Stadium.

Tipton racked up 217 yards on 19 carries for CMU (6-6, 5-3 MAC), which won its third game in a row to become bowl eligible. The Chippewas also won their final three games in 2012 to finish the regular season with six wins. Cooper Rush completed 9-of-14 pass attempts for 92 yards and was picked off once. Star wideout Titus Davis was limited to just two catches for 19 yards in the victory.

Brogan Roback started under center for EMU (2-10, 1-7) and finished 14-of-27 for 139 yards with one touchdown and a late interception. Bronson Hill contributed 166 yards on 25 attempts. Dustin Creel made 10 receptions for 109 yards in the Eagles' second-straight loss to close out the 2013 campaign.

Tipton began his excellent performance right away as he scored on a four-yard touchdown run just over two minutes after the opening kickoff. The senior tailback gave CMU a 14-0 lead with a one-yard touchdown run at the 2:36 mark of the first period.

Tipton scampered 86 yards into the end zone in the early stages of the second stanza to give the hosts a commanding, 21-0, lead. EMU finally ended the run as Dylan Mulder converted a 24-yard field goal attempt with six minutes left before the break. The Eagles scored their first touchdown of the game just before halftime when Roback competed a 10-yard pass to Cole Gardner to make it 21-10 at the intermission.

Courtney Williams returned the opening kickoff of the second half 84 yards for a score to give the Chippewas a 28-10 edge on the scoreboard. Tipton broke away for a 44-yard touchdown run four minutes later to make it a 25-point advantage for CMU.

The Chippewas defensive unit put an exclamation point on the victory in the fourth frame as Avery Cunningham picked of Roback and returned the interception 74 yards for six points.

Cunningham also recovered a fumble and made five tackles. CMU moved the chains on six of its nine third-down plays. The Eagles went 5-of-12 on third-down conversion attempts.
