Recap: Eastern Mich vs. Western Mich

Ypsilanti, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - Ryan Brumfield ran for 148 yards and two touchdowns, leading the Eastern Michigan Eagles to a 35-32 overtime victory against the Western Michigan Broncos in Mid-American Conference play at Rynearson Stadium.

Brogan Roback completed 9-of-22 passes for 136 yards and a touchdown for the Eagles (2-8, 1-5 MAC), who won in their first game under new interim head coach Stan Parrish. Bronson Hill ran for 108 yards and a touchdown on a game- high 23 carries. Dustin Creel caught two passes for 29 yards, one of which was a touchdown.

Zach Terrell completed 24-of-39 passes for an impressive 348 yards for the Broncos (1-9, 1-5 MAC), who managed 468 total yards. Corey Davis caught six passes for 112 yards and a touchdown and Kendrick Roberts caught four balls for 106 yards. Brian Fields picked up 45 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries.

Brumfield got the Eagles going with a 23-yard touchdown run just under two minutes into the contest.

A little over four minutes later, Fields responded for the Broncos, running in a score from seven yards out.

The Eagles gave the ball right back on the first play of their next possession, a Roback pass intercepted by Justin Currie. That WMU drive set up a 48-yard field goal by Andrew Haldeman, good for a 10-7 Broncos lead.

The Eagles reclaimed the lead midway through the second quarter with Roback opting to keep the ball, running it eight yards into the end zone for a score.

Haldeman converted two field goals for the Broncos before the end of the half, the first from 23 yards and the second from 30, which gave the lead back to WMU, 16-14, at the break.

Midway through the third quarter, a 10-yard touchdown run by Hill put EMU back up 21-16.

The Broncos responded in a big way, just a minute later, with a 70-yard touchdown pass from Terrell to Davis.

Haldeman added a field goal from 29 yards at the close of the third quarter and another, from 25 yards, midway through the fourth, putting the Broncos back up 29-21.

In the final minute of regulation, the Eagles found an equalizer in the form of a 10-yard pass from Roback to Creel. The quarterback then completed a two- point conversion in order to knot the score at 29-29.

The Broncos were unable to find the end zone on their possession in overtime, and Haldeman converted yet another field goal, this one from 36 yards, making him a perfect 6-for-6 on the day.

With a chance to win the game, Roback gave the ball to Brumfield on three consecutive plays, the last of which was a four-yard touchdown run.

Eastern Michigan's Parrish, formerly the team's assistant coach, took over the head coaching role on an interim basis Friday when the university fired Ron English. English had posted a dismal 11-46 record over four-plus seasons since being hired as head coach in 2008.
