After a scoreless first quarter the Bearcats struck early in the second, scoring on a 40-yard touchdown from Kay to Moore in the first minute of the period. They added a 25-yard field goal from Tony Miliano midway through the quarter to up their lead to 10-0.

With just under six minutes to play in the half, the Cougars finally got on the board when O'Korn found Greenberry for a 12-yard scoring pass. Cincinnati scored just before intermission when Kay hooked up with Moore once again, this time on a three-yard touchdown pass with 1:29 on clock as they took a 17-7 lead into halftime.

The Bearcats extended their lead to 24-7 midway through the third on a 14-yard scoring run by Kay.

The Houston defense got on the board when Trevon Stewart returned a fumble 15 yards for a touchdown to make the score 24-14. The Cougars added a 27-yard field goal late in the third.

After the Bearcats missed two fourth-quarter field goals, including a 24- yarder with 1:23 remaining, Houston worked its way down the field to the Bearcats' 37, but O'Korn tried to scramble on the final play, gaining only six yards as time expired.

The Bearcats out-gained the Cougars on offense, 573-278, holding the hosts to just 33 yards on the ground. Cincinnati extended its winning streak to six games with the win.
