Recap: San Diego St vs. Boise State

San Diego, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The San Diego State Aztecs received two late non-offensive touchdowns to help force overtime, and they were able to outlast the Boise State Broncos in the extra session, 34-31, in Mountain West Conference action at Qualcomm Stadium.

Quinn Kaehler completed 23-of-37 passes for SDSU (7-4, 6-1 MWC), which extended its winning streak to a season-long four games. Dylan Denso was Kaehler's top target with four receptions for 78 yards. Adam Muema had just 46 yards on 24 carries, but he did manage to score a touchdown.

For Boise State (7-4, 5-2 MWC), Grant Hedrick was 21-of-35 for 202 yards with two touchdowns, but he also tossed two very costly interceptions. Jay Ajayi rushed for 103 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries, while Matt Miller led all receivers with eight catches for 80 yards and a score.

SDSU got the scoring started late in the first quarter when Muema rushed in two-yard touchdown, but Boise State wasted no time in tying the game up, as Bryan Douglas returned the ensuing kickoff 100 yards for a score.

The Aztecs went back on top early in the second stanza on a three-yard touchdown pass from Kaehler to Adam Roberts, and they carried at 14-7 advantage into intermission.

The Broncos took control of the game in the third quarter with 14 unanswered points. Ajayi ran in a 31-yard touchdown at the 6:33 mark of the frame, and after SDSU fumbled the ensuing kickoff, Hedrick completed a 12-yard touchdown pass to Shane Williams-Rhodes less than two minutes later.

SDSU tied the game up early in the fourth quarter on a defensive touchdown, as J.J. Whittaker intercepted Hedrick and returned it 18 yards for a score, but Boise State regained the advantage less than three minutes later when Hedrick redeemed himself by tossing a 10-yard touchdown to Miller.

The Aztecs received another big non-offensive play, as Tim Vizzi returned a punt 41 yards for a touchdown to tie the game at 28 with 4:04 to play.

Boise State started its final drive of regulation with 1:42 left, and it managed to drive down the field to set up a game-tying field goal attempt for Dan Goodale, but his 43-yard try was no good and the game went to overtime.

The Broncos had the first possession in overtime but stalled and had to settle for a 35-yard field goal by Goodale. SDSU took advantage of Boise State's missed opportunity, as it won the game on a 10-yard touchdown pass from Kaehler to Colin Lockett.

This marked SDSU's fourth overtime game this season, which is the most in the FBS.
