Recap: LSU vs. Sam Houston St

Baton Rouge, LA (SportsNetwork.com) - Travin Dural caught three touchdown passes in the first half and 12th-ranked LSU defeated Sam Houston State, 56-0, on Saturday.

Anthony Jennings was 7-of-13 for 188 yards with three touchdowns and backup Brandon Harris completed four of his five passes for 62 yards and a score.

Dural had three catches for 140 yards and Malachi Dupre also hauled in a score for the Tigers (2-0), who extended their non-conference winning streak to 47 games.

Leonard Fournette rushed for 92 yards and a score on 13 carries, while Harris, Darrel Williams and Kenny Hilliard each ran for a touchdown.

Jared Johnson threw for 142 yards on 8-of-25 passing for the Bearkats (1-2) and Yedidiah Louis compiled a team-high 102 receiving yards on four catches.

Dwayne Thomas intercepted Johnson on Sam Houston State's opening drive. The Tigers took over at their 6-yard line and needed just one play to open the scoring. Jennings aired out a pass to Dural, who beat his defender and flew down the sideline for a 94-yard score. Kicker Colby Delahoussaye missed the extra point.

Hilliard rushed four times for 19 yards around Trey Quinn's 12-yard grab to place LSU at its opponents' 28. Dural then hauled in a 28-yard pass for a 13-0 lead early in the first.

Louis' 39-yard catch placed the Bearkats at the Tigers' 29, but Johnson's pass on 4th-and-2 was incomplete.

Fournette broke through for a 40-yard rush and then scored from four yards out on the next play to cap a 9-play, 79-yard drive. Dural's leaping, 18-yard grab for his third TD catch of the day made it a 27-0 game early in the second.

Harris came in at quarterback for a drive and made an impact by rushing for a 46-yard score. Hilliard dove into the end zone for the two-point conversion.

D.J. Welter sacked Johnson and Deion Jones recovered the fumble at Sam Houston's 1 to set up Williams' score for a 42-0 LSU lead halfway through the third.

Louis gained 48 yards on a short pass to bring the Bearkats down to LSU's 15. Jalen Overstreet gained 10 yards on two straight rushes before Johnson was intercepted by Rickey Jefferson, who returned the ball 18 yards to the Tigers' 20.

The Tigers marched down the field with Harris finding Dupre for an 8-yard score to complete the 7-play, 80-yard drive. Hilliard added a two-yard rush on LSU's next drive to account for the final score.
