Jamarcus Nelson caught five passes for 144 yards and a score and Jordan Howard led the Blazers with 89 yards rushing and a score on 24 carries.

The Bulldogs were on the scoreboard before the first minute was over as Prescott threw a 68-yard touchdown pass to Robert Johnson on the third play of the game.

A 44-yard field goal from Ty Long gave the Blazers their first points.

A 21-yard interception return for a touchdown by Preston Smith pushed Mississippi State to a 13-3 lead, but Howard's two-yard touchdown run early in the second quarter kept UAB within striking distance.

Just over a minute later the Blazers took the lead on an 88-yard touchdown pass from Briscoe to Nelson.

It wasn't long before Mississippi State went back in front, as Robinson scored recorded a 17-yard touchdown run on the ensuing drive. However, the Bulldogs failed to convert on the extra point attempt, putting the score at 19-17.

UAB took advantage when Long came through with a 46-yard field goal midway through the second quarter.

The back-and-forth quarter continued with a 20-yard touchdown pass from Prescott to Gus Walley.

The Bulldogs came out of the half firing, with Prescott scoring on a four-yard touchdown run early in the third quarter.

Prescott then threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Joe Morrow midway through the period.

Clements stopped the bleeding a bit for UAB when he connected with Josh Magee for an 81-yard touchdown pass.

However, Prescott did not let up, throwing an eight-yard touchdown pass to De'Runnya Wilson less than four minutes later.

There would be no more scoring the rest of the way except for a 75-yard touchdown pass from Briscoe to Quincy Perdue with less than a minute left to play, which did not make a difference in the outcome.

Despite the loss, UAB had the edge in total offense (548-516). Mississippi State scored touchdowns on all five of its red zone trips.

Extra Points: Snyder and the Beltway radio wars

If contradiction was an Olympic sport, Chip Kelly would certainly be medal-worthy judging by his performance at the NFL's owners meeting but the Eagles coach might have to settle for silver because Daniel Snyder's critics will take the gold every time.

2015 PREVIEW NL EAST: It's the Nationals and everybody else

There isn't much after that. The Miami Marlins are loaded up for a playoff push -- likely through a wild card spot -- and the New York Mets are up-and- coming but still raw. The Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies, former powerhouses of the division, are going through rebuilds and won't contend anytime soon.
