Recap: Oklahoma State vs. Iowa State

Stillwater, OK (SportsNetwork.com) - Desmond Roland ran for two touchdowns to lead the 21st-ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys over the Iowa State Cyclones, 37-20, on Saturday.

Roland carried the ball 19 times for 95 yards for the Cowboys (4-1, 2-0 Big 12), who have posted double-digit wins in four straight games since a loss to defending national champion Florida State in the season opener.

Daxx Garman completed 26-of-41 passes for 271 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions for Oklahoma State. Jhajuan Seales caught four passes for 75 yards and a score.

"I'm glad that one is over. We played very average in a lot of areas," said Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy. "Offensively, not very good. Not running the ball as effectively as we need to. The defense held on for a while, but gave up a couple of big plays. That allowed [Iowa State] to stay in the game."

Sam Richardson connected on 17-of-39 passes for 200 yards and two touchdowns for the Cyclones (1-4, 0-3), who have lost two in a row. He also carried the ball nine times for 34 yards.

E.J. Bibbs caught six passes for 69 yards and two scores in defeat.

Cole Netten made a pair of 34-yard field goals around a Garman interception early in the second quarter. Ben Grogan responded with two field goals of his own to make it 6-6.

The Cowboys then recovered an onside kick with less than one minute left in the first half. Roland appeared to be stopped short on 3rd-and-goal from the two as time expired. Upon further review, the officials reversed the call and determined the ball did break the plane.

Iowa State athletic director Jamie Pollard ripped Big 12 officiating following the game.

"We've been on the short end of several controversial calls," said Pollard during an impromptu postgame news conference. "And it's hard to sit idle and watch ESPN, FOX and other announcers, not debate, but to feel sorry for Iowa State, because maybe there will be another apology for a call."

There was no disputing Tyreek Hill's 97-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to open the second half. The score made it 20-6 Oklahoma State.

A holding penalty came back to haunt Oklahoma State on the ensuing Iowa State possession. Richardson got sacked and fumbled but the Cowboys were called for holding on the play. After offsetting penalties negated Richardson's interception on 3rd-and-9, Bibbs made a great one-handed grab for a 17-yard score.

Seales responded with a 40-yard TD catch, then Grogan added a 34-yard field goal to make it 30-13.

Roland recorded a 6-yard TD run on the first play of the fourth stanza. Bibbs caught a 7-yard TD pass with 50 seconds to play.

"They got on a roll offensively and had success and got it to a point where it was going to be hard to get a comeback to overtake it," said Iowa State coach Paul Rhoads.

Oklahoma State leads the all-time series with Iowa State by a 28-18-3 margin ... Brandon Sheperd caught eight passes for 91 yards for the Cowboys ... Aaron Wimberly carried the ball 10 times for 39 yards for the Cyclones.
