Recap: Arizona vs. UNLV

Tucson, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - Anu Solomon threw for 425 yards and four touchdowns as the Arizona Wildcats ran over the UNLV Rebels, 58-13, in a season opener at Arizona Stadium.

Solomon, a redshirt freshman, completed 25-of-44 pass attempts and also added 50 rushing yards for Arizona (1-0), which set a program record with 787 yards of total offense. Terris Jones-Grigsby accumulated 124 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries and Nick Wilson had 104 yards and a score on only seven carries. Austin Hill (110) and Samjie Grant (101) each had over 100 receiving yards.

Blake Decker threw for 252 yards and had a touchdown to match an interception, while completing 22-of-41 pass attempts for UNLV (0-1). Devonte Boyd caught six passes for 102 yards and Devante Davis had eight catches for 100 yards.

Solomon came out of the gate well, throwing touchdown passes of 39 yards and 63 yards to Nate Phillips and Grant, respectively, in the first quarter.

UNLV got its first points of the game, and the season, on a 41-yard field goal from Jonathan Leiva early in the second quarter.

Arizona responded with a 28-yard field goal from Casey Skowron later in the period.

A 48-yard field goal from Nicolai Bornand helped UNLV chip into Arizona's lead.

However, Solomon threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to DaVonte' Neal with less than a minute to play in the first half. With it, the Wildcats led, 24-6, at the break.

The second half got started with a flourish, as Solomon hooked up with Hill for a 92-yard touchdown pass on the first play of the period.

UNLV struck quickly as well, with Decker finding Anthony Williams for a two- yard touchdown pass just over two minutes later.

The Wildcats answered right back, with Jones-Grigsby scoring on a two-yard touchdown run midway through the third frame.

Arizona kept pouring it on in the third quarter, with a 49-yard field goal from Skowron and an 85-yard touchdown run from Wilson.

The fourth quarter featured even more scoring, with Skowron knocking in a 39- yard field goal and Connor Brewer capping off a 19-play, 77-yard drive with a three-yard touchdown run.
